Darker iced tea colr without a haze. Strong and rather sweet candy aroma. A stronger beer once it hits the palate. Extinguished campfire remains and perhaps a hint of mild whiskey. A little unrefined but you may like it that way. Gets to be rather rude near the bottom of the bottle. Finish is lingering coat of cough medicine. A little too much for the taste buds of this lager lover. Of course, this does not stand up to the refined doppels I’ve had from the old country.

Sampled on draft at Fat Heads in Pgh Pa this beer poured a dark ruby-brown color with small khaki head with good lacing. The aroma was sweetish and lightly roasty and nutty. The flavor was bitter, tangy and roasty with a hint of maple and light fruity hops. The finish was dry, roasty and lightly hoppy. Better than average for a brown ale in my book.

Pours a muddy chestnut with a head that froths up but doesn’t hold. The nose has some varnish-like phenols and notes that combine blackstrap, caramelized pears and baked beans. The flavour is heavy on the baked beans, a little wood, a lot of molasses. Moderately sweet, drying out a bit late. Somewhat tart, which is distracting but not altogether bad. I just don’t see this beer going anywhere.

Nice aroma, rather attractive and inviting. Fragrance of yeast with body. Hypnotizing swirling pour inside a pale yellow brew. Varying carbonation; at times its creamy, other times you can barely tell there is any there. Wheatish taste but I don’t care for that slight ale attribute. Mild and friendly for the most part. Not much bitterness on the finish. Some very slight hints of lemon on the sides of the tongue.

Nice golden coloured body with a hazy orange glow and a strong white head. Light aroma of yeast and wheat with a bit of coriander seed also coming through. Light to Medium-bodied; Nice wheatie flavour with some lemons, oranges and coriander seed very noticeable. Aftertaste is a bit more potent with some sweetness, curacao and a faint bit of hops. Overall, a decent wheat - nothing horrible, and good for a hot day! I sampled this twelve ounce bottle purchased from Total Wine in McLean, Virginia on 05-April-2008.

Pours with a creamy, off-white head with an ultra dark brown body. Decen lacing. Maple, caramale, and chocolate in the aroma and taste. Very creamy mouthfeel.

Bottle at J’s Bistro. Pours a cloudy golden color with a medium white head. The aroma is citrus and lemon. The taste is very grassy and tart. Not too much going on with this wheat ale from Tommyknocker.

Bottle from J’s Bistro. Pours a cloudy orange golden color with a small white head that diminishes quickly. The aroma is very fruity with floral notes. Decent lacing on the glass. The taste is very hop with a bitter finsh.
