A little uncertain for style. A little hippy, with some citrus. Finishes with some bitterness. Some malt. Bottle from Chevy Chase. --- Beer merged from original tick of Derecho Lager on 15 Jul 2023 at 11:43 - Score: Appearance - 6 | Aroma - 5 | Flavor - 6 | Texture - 6 | Overall - 6. Original review text: Strong lemon aroma here. Pours golden with ok head. A little odd for a lager. Tap at Port City.

Kind of a ginger bomb that destroyed any good sense of the excellent base beer. Not much left in this. Pours black with ok head and lacing. Tap at Snallygaster.

Cask pour at Snallygaster 2014 shared by ME! Thanks to myself! Poured a dark brown color, creamy medium sized head. Aroma was orange zest, ginger, and roasted malt notes. Flavor was heavy on ginger notes, with some light citrus. I think I like the base beer a bit more, but this was certainly worth a try.

Draft at 2014 Virginia IPA Challenge: Lemon zest aroma, weak. Clear amber, thin head. Subtle rosehip flavor, lemon zest finish. Light body. Tame.

Draft at Meridian Pint. Cloudy pale yellow color. Nice aroma of fresh flowers and cut grass. Taste is bitter herbal wet grass. Very nice.

On tap at Black Squirrel’s Michigan beer event during DC Beer Week 2014. Pours a murky deep brown with some clumpy beige head. Nose has a lot of malt, brown sugar, a bit of tree bark, some cocoa nib, perhaps a hint of booze. Flavor is malty, crackery, bread crust, cocoa, hints of booze, something a bit umami too, like roasted mushroom. Smooth finish. Held up well.

From a growler at the Beer Heads Meetup. Pours a clear dark cola with a tan. Roasted nose. Flavors of coffee and a hint of chocolate. Slight bitter roasted finish.

Sampled @ GBBF day 3. Very dark brown to black color, virtually no head. Smell and taste malts, a lot of herbs or spices, lightly roast, lots of spices. Medium body and carbonation. Not my thing at all.
