4oz pour at the Northern Virginia BrewFest. Poured a light hazy yellow color with a small off-white head. Aroma was lots of fresh, juicy citrus notes - citra? Galaxy? Lots of citrus fruits. Flavor was crisp, juicy citrus notes, some floral character, pretty good!

This is the first oyster stout I had while actually eating oysters thanks to some event I stumbled into by accident at Glen’s Garden Market. Free food is awesome. This one has nice roast and a good dose of oyster saltiness. Pours black with good head and lacing. Bitter and lightly salty finish. Light oyster notes. These guys make good dark beers. Tap.

Good show for these local guys. They make a great porter and this is a very drinkable, balanced imperial stout. Pours black with great head and lacing. Roast and dark chocolate with some subtle hops. Sweet and bitter finish. Booze well hidden. Hopefully they bring this back and pump it up a little to make something truly great. Tap at Black Squirrel.

16 oz draft at Dino’s Grotto poured into a standard pint glass. Hazy yellow with off-white head. Aromas of citrus and tropical notes. Tastes of grapefruit citrus, lemon lime fruit and peel, floral hops, some rye. Medium body with a dry finish. Juicy mouthfeel, medium carbonation. Enjoyed it.

Bottle thanks to Nimbleprop. Pours cloudy lemon yellow with white head. Nose/taste of oat, grains of paradise, coriander, orange and lemon peel, banana and wheat malt. Lighter bodied.

Growler from Drake. Pours hazy golden with small white head. Aroma is pine hops, medium body, medium carbonation, and some small bubble lacing. Taste is some citrus up front, herbal hops, pine hops, peppery rye, some spice, and some malt backbone. I would have guessed session IPA that has some rye. Not that easy to drink for the abv, but still pretty quaff able. Different and interesting, but not a favorite.

Pours cloudy orange with ok head and lacing. This in the environment of summerfest by some new development high rises that look like they will be worn down by weather in 10 years. There’s a crane next to us building more. I’m thinking about packing myself into a cargo container and shipping myself to a place with beer better than this. Finishes with light sourness.

Location: Draft at Matchbox in Rockville, 5/23/14
Aroma: This beer has a light aroma of grassy hops, pale malts, and some bread
Appearance: Pours a clear gold color with a small head and some average lace
Flavor: The flavor is light sweet and light bitter, similar to the nose and clean flavor-wise
Palate: The body is fairly light, it has some crispness, and a clean, lightly dry finish
Overall Impression: I thought this was a solid pilsner, but not a top-of-style offering. It doesn’t quite hit the level of crispness that I look for in the style.
