Description
Libertine Brewing Company was founded in 2012 on the premise of bringing the best beer selection to the Central Coast, while brewing unique beers and products to compliment. With a strong emphasis on tradition while still being authentic to our region, we have grown from a small brewpub on the water in Morro Bay, to a 9000 square foot production and tasting facility on the edge of downtown San Luis Obispo. All of our Wild Ales are brewed and transferred into an open-top coolship overnight, which allows the local wild yeasts of our area time to naturally fall in and start the fermentation process, giving our beers a true Central Coast Terroir. Along with Wild Ales, we also make cold-brewed coffee that is aged in bourbon and wine barrels and spiced with local ingredients foraged from the surrounding hills.

Capped and corked 750 shared by Marcus. Pours gold with a transient white head. Aroma is earthy, woody, pale stone fruity. Near med body. Flavor is slightly sweet/sour pale fruit. Some wood, but not a lot of earth. Seems a bit acidic. Perhaps a bit fruity for a saison. Also a bit acid. Drinkable, but not a "pleasant saison". Call it sour.

750 ml bottle. The beer is hazy and medium light brown. Pretty big head, lots of fine foam lacing. Peach, caramel, lacto, somewhat buttery. Lots of oak. The peaches have some strength but get a bit overwhelmed by the caramel and barrel. Fairly sour. Pretty buttery. The peach flavor is much weaker in the taste. Strong sour caramel malt flavor. Some sweetness beneath the strong tartness. Taste is quite muddied. Light to medium body. Pretty strong pucker. I just don’t like this one much. Odd fruit flavor with a lot of barrel and soured malt.
