Description
Libertine Brewing Company was founded in 2012 on the premise of bringing the best beer selection to the Central Coast, while brewing unique beers and products to compliment. With a strong emphasis on tradition while still being authentic to our region, we have grown from a small brewpub on the water in Morro Bay, to a 9000 square foot production and tasting facility on the edge of downtown San Luis Obispo. All of our Wild Ales are brewed and transferred into an open-top coolship overnight, which allows the local wild yeasts of our area time to naturally fall in and start the fermentation process, giving our beers a true Central Coast Terroir. Along with Wild Ales, we also make cold-brewed coffee that is aged in bourbon and wine barrels and spiced with local ingredients foraged from the surrounding hills.

Bottle thanks to Russell. Pours a dark brown with no head. The aroma is vinegar, coffee, oak. Medium mouth with strong sour roast, vinegar, very good.

Hazed yellow pour with a white head. Aromas are floral, grassy, funky, bready malt, lightly nutty/grainy. Some hop notes. Flavors are lightly tart, funky, brett forward, mild malt, light fruit esters. A touch flabby. Lively carbonation, slightly slick mouthfeel. Nice.

[2/17/15] Draught at The Libertine Pub in Morro Bay. Apparently, this one is made with sea water added for the saltiness. Weird sour aroma with some vegetables, feels like an unintentionally infected beer. Strange sour flavor, fruity and vegetal, kinda acetic, with vinegar. Medium-bodied. Not good.
