Description
Libertine Brewing Company was founded in 2012 on the premise of bringing the best beer selection to the Central Coast, while brewing unique beers and products to compliment. With a strong emphasis on tradition while still being authentic to our region, we have grown from a small brewpub on the water in Morro Bay, to a 9000 square foot production and tasting facility on the edge of downtown San Luis Obispo. All of our Wild Ales are brewed and transferred into an open-top coolship overnight, which allows the local wild yeasts of our area time to naturally fall in and start the fermentation process, giving our beers a true Central Coast Terroir. Along with Wild Ales, we also make cold-brewed coffee that is aged in bourbon and wine barrels and spiced with local ingredients foraged from the surrounding hills.

Tap at Capitol Beer in Sacramento, CA. Pours dark brown with orange glints and a large, creamy tan head. Aroma suggest espresso. Sour hint? Med body or so. Flavor is coffee; dark malt. Has an earthy suggestion. Really smooth. There’s a slight acidity that could be called tart. Or not.

On draft at Caps & Taps. It pours a dark brown color with a light tan head. It smells like a cinnamon pop tart....with a cherry jam filling. Really. Hints of toast. The flavor is medium sour, roasted and soapy. Sour cherries with a little vinegar and tobacco. Weird stuff in a border line good/bad sort of way. Interesting none-the-less.

On draft at Caps & Taps. It pours a hazy yellow color with a small white head. The aroma is nice with strong lacto, fruity peach and mango flesh with mild funk and lemon. The flavor is is a massive lacto bomb with face-scrunching sourness. Tons of lemon juice with background notes of mango flesh. A bit rough in the finish with some throat scraping acid. Still a fun beer with good fruit character, it just needed something to balance the massive amounts of acid.
