Description
Libertine Brewing Company was founded in 2012 on the premise of bringing the best beer selection to the Central Coast, while brewing unique beers and products to compliment. With a strong emphasis on tradition while still being authentic to our region, we have grown from a small brewpub on the water in Morro Bay, to a 9000 square foot production and tasting facility on the edge of downtown San Luis Obispo. All of our Wild Ales are brewed and transferred into an open-top coolship overnight, which allows the local wild yeasts of our area time to naturally fall in and start the fermentation process, giving our beers a true Central Coast Terroir. Along with Wild Ales, we also make cold-brewed coffee that is aged in bourbon and wine barrels and spiced with local ingredients foraged from the surrounding hills.

On tap at Caps & Taps. It pours a salmon color with an off white head. The aroma is nice with strong notes of lemon and raspberry. Really strong citric acid with background hints of vanilla, wood and funk. The flavor is light, highly carbonated with strong lemon and raspberry. Highly tart, but not bracingly sour. It stops just short for me. It actually drinks kind of like a fruited Berliner. Smooth, frothy body. I quite enjoyed this.

Keg at Jupiter, Berkeley, 29/01/16. Black with a decent light tan covering. Nose is spice, herbal clump, vegetal tones, a touch harsh and farty. Taste comprises pissy citric drizzle, tarte fruit wash, light spice. Medium bodied, fine carbonation, semi drying close with a light acidic spike. Not great .... not a lot on offer here and what there is is pretty harsh and disjointed. Not many good dark saisons about !
