Description
Libertine Brewing Company was founded in 2012 on the premise of bringing the best beer selection to the Central Coast, while brewing unique beers and products to compliment. With a strong emphasis on tradition while still being authentic to our region, we have grown from a small brewpub on the water in Morro Bay, to a 9000 square foot production and tasting facility on the edge of downtown San Luis Obispo. All of our Wild Ales are brewed and transferred into an open-top coolship overnight, which allows the local wild yeasts of our area time to naturally fall in and start the fermentation process, giving our beers a true Central Coast Terroir. Along with Wild Ales, we also make cold-brewed coffee that is aged in bourbon and wine barrels and spiced with local ingredients foraged from the surrounding hills.

Sample at the Shelton Festival. Reddish, orange color, with a small, off-white head. The aroma is lime, pineapple, pine, salt, and caramel. Sweet and syrupy, with a mild, sharp, sour kick. Light to medium body, with a smooth, mildly acidic palate. This is a mellow and well made sour.

Pours a lightly hazy amber from a bottle, thick white pillowy head. Tart pear/nectarine aroma, yeasty. Similar flavor, tartness is nicely balanced. Pretty good beer.

Bottle shared in London - cheers to Nathan. Pours deep brown with a creamy khaki head. Odd stuff, ample vinegar, vague cocoa, strong acidity. Medium bodiednwith fine carbonation. Sharp finish, more vinegar notes, dark malts. Not ideal.

Craft TCR bottleshare. Thanks to Nathan. Opaque dark brown beer, small tan head. Light palate, semi dry, reasonable fine carbonation. Good gueuzey tartness, wet wood and dried fruits. Lightly bitter finish. Would not know this was a dark beer if blindfolded.

No dating. Corked and capped. Slow oozer.

Cloudy orange brew with oodles of foam, watch your bottle, and lots of lovely lacing.

Oak aromas with light Brett, lemon lime, some hops, very earthy in general.

Lemon lime tartness, woody and oaky, earthy...I don't know what it was like fresh or if it is fresh but I am digging the rather bold flavours.

Fairly light bodied with lively carbonation.

Quite nice.

On tap at Avenue Pub. Pours a cloudy orange gold with small white head that lasts. The aroma is funk, sour fruit, oak. Slick body, brett, stone fruit, tart upfront, dry finish, very good.
