From a 330ml bottle on 31/3/2011. Pours a clear copper colour with little head. Has a very strong malty aroma with some sweet fruits and honey. It starts out with sweet caramel and toffee malts, followed by some citrus fruit and nutty flavours. It finishes with a toasty/roasty bitterness whiuch is quite firm and lasting. This is a very good ESB.

Bottle 33 cl. Courtesy of bluebetty. Pours a clear amber with a small off-white head. Very sweet butterscotch aroma with a little citrusy hops. Medium body, very sweet caramel and butterscotch. The aroma hops are faint and even the bitterness is discreet. Poor. 150311

Tap, GABS St Kilda. Pretty much black with a light tan head. Smells of dark caramel, iced coffee, chocolate, some spice and herbs. Iced mocha syrup with some medicinal bitterness at the end. Boozy. Unintegrated flavours. I like their chocolate porter a lot so this was a surprise.

From a 330ml bottle on 8/2/2011. Has a lovely strong roasted malt and chocolate aroma, with a hint of dark fruits (prunes). Flavour wise, there’s heaps of sweet dark chocolate, along with more roasted malt, and some caramel and toffee. The flavours are nicely set off by a good dose of bitterness at the back. My only criticism is that the palate is a little thin. That said, this is a truly excellent porter.

Bottle. Very pale gold with a small white head. Grainy aroma with some earth, grass and butterscotch. Taste is sweet and quite fruity with a little balancing bitterness. The butterscotch fades down the glass and the end becomes drier. Would have guessed this a pale ale and I rather fancied a pilsener.

Dark cherry minus the tartness, leather and candied sugar. Some liquor notes but not as present as in the aroma.
