Keg at the brewery tap room, Hackey. Pours black-brown with a tight, creamy beige head. The head really lingers and leaves nicely layered lacing. Aroma holds lots of ashy roast, torched pine, dirt. Light to medium sweet flavor, some minerals, burnt wood, moderate bitterness, more dirt, toasted grass, burnt bread. Light to medium bodied with fine, creamy carbonation. Lightly resinous, burnt pine to finish, more lean minerals, hints of cocoa, mellow roast, dirt. Very drinkable beer. Good nuance, good balance.

On tap at the London Fields Taproom Saturday 1st March 2013 Pours dark, dark brown, with a slim off-white head, looks bloody good. Good aroma with dark chocolate, some coal dust and a little light smokiness. Good taste, whilst my description may hint at a rough little diamond it is more than this. I get a little bit of burnt charcoal, bitter chocolate, nice roasted malts and yet it is also quite soft, silky and smooth, nice lingering bitterness throughout and a couple of hoppy burps suggest a goodly dose of hops in here. Very, very good. A7 A5 T8 P4 Ov16 4.0

On tap at the London Fields Brewpub Saturday 1st March 2013 Pours dark gold with a white head, little bit of haze. Citrussy and with a reasonable but slightly softer than expected bitterness, sweetness initially eventually leads to a dry finish, good, but bettered by the Simcoe India Black Ale.
