A nutbrown beer with a small head. The aroma is sweet, wheaty, nutty, and brewmashy. The falvor is very brewmashy you can almost taste the straws of the grain - it is pretty carbonated and bitter with hints of woodiness. The aftertaste is a good slightly smoked lingering bitterness. The palate is both light and heavy - a very complex beer.

(500 ml. bottle) Depending on the source of light, colour changes from dark brown to dark ruby. Good tan head that doesn't last very long but leaves a good lacing. Moderate aroma of oak, caramel and English pipe tobacco. Well balanced malty flavour with roast notes. Not too sweet. Roast bitterness in the aftertaste, maybe slightly too bitter/tart in the end. All in all a great beer.

Beautiful deep ruby colour. Pleasant sweetish blackcurrant aroma. Very smooth mouthfeel. Blackcurrant (again) and licorice flavour. Warming finish. Could I have another one, please!

Almost a black beer with an English porterish appearance. The aroma is fruit mixed with weak coffee, and the flavour reminds me strongly of blackcurrents mixed with a bitter edge. A different beer to most, and not one of my favourites.

Aniseed aroma and flavour with slight sour notes, accompanied by a foamy head. A more complex dunkel than most, and maybe not as refreshing for it.

Dark mahogany, thin light brown head; malty, toffeeish nose; Smooth, rich malt palate - earth, wood, demerara sugar, toffee, almost smokey. All of this plays second fiddle to the pure malt flavours one normally would head north to Franconia for, but apparently can find in the monastic brews of Bavaria as Weltenburg and Andechs have proven, especially in their wonderful doppelbocks.

Golden; decently malty nose with touch of apple fruitiness. Biscuity malt profile with a bit of tang. Long, simple, delicious.

Cloudy, brown. Fruity aroma - banana, pear. A little dark malt, chocolate, banana, pear. Complex and well-balanced. There is hope for this style yet.

Light amber colour, medium head. Malty aroma. Sweet, malty flavour. Bitter, slightly roasty finish. Tastes better and better as it gets warmer.
