Bottled (HBF2009, vintage 2007). Deep amber color, small beige head. Lots of vanillla and oak in the nose. Sticky toffeish palate. Loads of vanilla and toffee. Some bitterness in the aftertaste. Very balanced dessert beer.

Bottled (0,75 ltr, HBF, thanks Markku K). Clear amber color, small white head. Caramel, cheese, mild hops in the nose. Alcohol, hops backed with caramel maltyness. Not really biere de garde, more like "imperial amber ale": Balanced.

Pour is a straw looking yellow with a fizzy white head. Aroma is grassy with some bready malts. Flavor is again some bready malts but to a lesser degree. Not made to impress but made to quench in the heat. Reminds me of some eastern euro lagers.

2007 750 mL bottle courtesy of CrellMoset. Thanks! Pours a hazy amber color, though I got the last pour and others’ from the same bottle were clear. Almost nonexistent head, but again, others got more of a head from the same bottle. The wood is HUGE in the aroma...maple, vanilla, oak, peach, pear, woody hop notes in the finish. Taste is cotton candy, toffee, oak, vanilla, maple, caramel. Taste like a caramel candy and is sweet, but is not cloying. Strong alcohol warmth that gets quite boozy. Full bodied.

Pours clear deep amber into a snifter. Off-white head slowly recedes to skim surface leaving spider lacing. Oak, cinammon and maple syrup aromas. Full and oaky with sweet molasses and caramel upfront. Lasting oak and dark caramel alcohol burn. Nice.
