Description
In 1449, Urbar von Wallsee first mentioned a brewery in Hofstetten. This is the oldest record we have of a brewery at this location, and it is a date that has granted us a place in the Guinness Book of Records as the Oldest Brewery in Austria. The tavern/brewery has been in the hands of the Krammer Family since 1847. Now in our fifth generation, we still proudly combine hops and malt daily to make the beautiful product of beer.

Bottle: Golden, hazy, small and stable white foam, moderate bitter-sweet grainy-dusty nose with herbal hops and traces of honey and fruits; moderate bitter-sweet flavour, medium to full bodied, a bit tart; drier and slightly lingering grainy-bitter finish with a delicate alcohol-burn. Not too glorious...

Decent zwikel beer. But not top notch. More a bit hazy lager with some faint citric notes. Anyway quite easy drinkable at the end of the day when you had to much heavy stuff.

Thin beige head left a cover on a still dark oak oil slick. Boozy aroma with syrup, molasses, Christmas cake & raisin. Full bodied, oily slick & smooth o RR the tongue with lingering greasy back. Concentrated fruit juice, raspberry, strong desk spirits, red wine, sherry & grape tastes.

Bottle at home, thanks to Geiserich in a Euroswap, 13/01/19. Clear chestnut brown with a well presented light beige cap that retains well. Nose is caramel, stewed fruits, nutty, light spice, brown bread. Taste comprises toffee, brown sugar melt, earthy fruit rinds, fruit slice, dark malts. Medium bodied, fine carbonation, semi drying with a bitter sweet edge. Solid stuff for the style.
