Description
In 1449, Urbar von Wallsee first mentioned a brewery in Hofstetten. This is the oldest record we have of a brewery at this location, and it is a date that has granted us a place in the Guinness Book of Records as the Oldest Brewery in Austria. The tavern/brewery has been in the hands of the Krammer Family since 1847. Now in our fifth generation, we still proudly combine hops and malt daily to make the beautiful product of beer.

0.33 l bottle from 'Bierothek' (online), best before December 2027. A bit hazy, very dark ruby with a few beige bubbles on top of it. Intensely sweetish-malty, gently spicy and a bit fruity aroma of caramel, chocolate, raisins, gingerbread, cinnamon and aniseed. Rather sweet, malty, slightly roasty, quite spicy and moderately fruity taste of caramel, dark chocolate, gingerbread, raisins, cinnamon and aniseed, followed by a long, gently roasty-bitter, boozy finish. Medium to full body, gently effervescent mouthfeel, soft carbonation. Good spiced beer, pleasant winter warmer, maybe a tad too boozy but quite enjoyable on a rainy summer day as well.
