Description
In May 1867, the Leinenkugel family brewery was founded in Chippewa Falls, Wisconsin by Jacob Leinenkugel. He was a family man driven by an iron work ethic, and he knew that his German family heritage would play an integral part of his brewery’s success. Today, the sixth generation of Leinenkugels continues to brew some of the same family-inspired recipes that Jacob poured his heart and soul into. Over the years, our family has grown and so has our brewery, but our history and heritage remain at the forefront.

Bottle. Pours a clear golden color with a small white head. Decent lacing on the glass. The aroma is corn and a bit skunky. The taste is a sweet honey, easy to drink, a good session beer, but not too much going on with this one.

12 oz from BBB63! Nose of chocolate, light vanilla, and a little ripe banana; Balck as a moonless night with a fairly big cinnamon head; flavor has bannanas, hop bitterness, followed ny chocolate, and more hop bitterness. A Hefe Impy Stout!. I love bananas so this is a banana split with alcohol!

Bottle. Candied apple and malt aroma. Pale yellow color with small head. Sweet cinnamon and apple malt flavor. Tastes like spiced cider so delivers what it claims.

Bottle. Pours thick and dark with a big tan head. Aromas are spectacular: peat and smoke, espresso, chocolate, etc. Flavor is very smooth, but has an edge to it from the alcohol, which also gives a bit of warmth. Tastes of silky chocolate with some earthy notes and dark fruit. Darn good, but I noted a bit of an aftertaste funkiness that I can’t place, but didn’t leave me with that nice glow that some of my favorites in this category do.

Putrid smell of piss. Yellow pour with a thin head. The taste of wheat dominates. Plastic aftertaste. I liked their Sunset Wheat, but this was pretty bad.

Draught at Freaking Frog, Las Vegas
Cloudy blond color. Some wheat aroma, cookies too, milky; strange. The aroma is not bad, unfortunately the flavor is bad: weak, empty, dry, with an unpleasant aftertaste, a bit herbal.

Another from Skyview. Big Eddy is a well above average imperial stout. Pours like motor oil, thick and black, and almost no carbonation. Aroma has roast malt and sweet aroma. Lots of smoke and wood in the flavor, another described it as hickory and that description fits. Some sugar and moderate hops as well. some fruit. Thick, heavy palate. Sort of a hybrid between the British and American styles of imperial stout.

bottle - Pours light amber with a two finger head that fades fast and a light caramel malt aroma. It has decent caramel malt flavor and is a pretty light, smooth beer. It’s not bad, but then again there are certainly better Oktoberfests out there.

Bottle. Deep, opaque charcoal body, medium light brown head. Big, complex aroma of charred, roasted malts, chocolate/cocoa, coffee, prune, and licorice, and even a salty/leathery undertone. The body is heavy on the bitter, charred malts and salt in the beginning, underneath which lurk sweet dark fruits, molasses, coffee, and licorice. Vinous, wispy finish with lingering sweetness. If anything, I prefer less sweetness and a stronger alcohol presence to indicate the beer’s strength. Philip makes a very good point about the slim viscosity compared to the best imperial stouts. Nevertheless, an excellent beer by Leinenkugel.
