Split a 750ml bottle, poured a really hazy golden color. Aroma had cloves, orange peel, yeast, and wheat notes. Banana notes, cloves, bready notes. Pretty refreshing for 8% - liked it.

Bottle courtesy of ken1. Unclear dark amber with a lasting off-white head. Aroma is sweet, malty, caramel, dark fruit, yeasty and light spicy. Flavor is quite sweet and moderate bitter. Dry and moderate bitter finish. 040613

A very fruity sweet aroma with a bitter fruity flavor. A creamy yet light mouthfeel. A dry aftertaste. Muddy dark amber in color with a white head.

Bottle split at Endo’s house, thanks to James (jtclockwork) for the trade, 26/05/13. Light black with a thin tan head. Nose is dark malt, chocolate, bourbon notes, dark fruits, woody tones, touch of booze. Taste comprises dark sugars, dark malts, light roast, chocolate, bourbon, molasses, toffee fudge. Full bodied, fine carbonation, booze and sugars quite evident in the finish. Ok stuff if a little over sweet but the bourbon is kept in check pretty well and doesn’t take over the beer.

750 ml bottle into tulip glass; best before June 2014 on the cork. Pours fairly hazy deep reddish orange color with a nice 2-3 finger foamy and fluffy cream colored head with great retention, that reduces to a nice cap that lingers. Spotty foamy lacing clings on the glass. Aromas of lemon, orange zest, grapefruit, apple, pear, floral, grass, pepper, light clove, light oak, wheat, and floral earthiness. Very nice aromas with good balance and complexity of yeast and hop notes with slight barrel presence. Taste of lemon, orange zest, grapefruit, apple, pear, pepper, clove, floral, grass, light pine, wheat, and earthy yeast spiciness. Lingering notes of citrus, light fruits, pepper, clove, floral, grass, light pine, wheat, and yeast earthiness on the finish for a good bit. Damn nice balance and complexity of yeast and hop flavors; with a great balance of malt, hop, and spicy ester notes with zero cloying flavors after the finish. Medium-high carbonation and medium bodied; with a fairly creamy and moderately crisp mouthfeel that is nice. Alcohol is very well hidden with only a slight warming noticed after the finish. Overall this is an excellent Belgian strong pale ale. All around nice balance and complexity if hop, yeast, and malt flavors; and very smooth to sip on. Even though the stated barrel aging presence was minimal, it wasn’t really a determining factor for me with this style. A very enjoyable offering.

Black pour with a tan head. Roasty, slightly tart fruity aroma. The flavor is much more roast malts than sourness. The sour is more like a light tang than full on sour. Dry roasty malt flavor. The roast malt flavor is neither sweet nor bitter. Hides the alcohol well.

Draft at the brewpub. Pours a clear pinkish-red color with a thin creamy white head. Decent head retention. Aroma of tart dry cherries, pale malts, and a bit of a lacto note. The taste is tart cherries, pale malts. Lightly tart, thin bodied.

Purchased at Corks & Kegs in Richmond, VA; enjoyed at a friends house during a warm spring evening. I didn't take notes on this one, but I remember the sweetness of the bourbon really coming through in this one with light clove notes. Good stuff.

Aroma some scent of coffee and laced with chocolate. Appearance dark brown with a slight light tan head taste chocolate with a coffee and bourbon flavor. Long on the palate bitter overtones
