A deep reddish brown ale with a thin off white head. A strong "boggy" aroma, with herbal notes, baked beans and light sulfur. In mouth, a lightly sweet treacle malt, with light chocolate, roasted, some metallic notes. Apart from aroma, not bad. On tap at the Elmdale Tavern, Ottawa, 6.50$ pint. April 2008.

Bottle: Poured a deep clear golden color Kölsch with a big foamy head with average retention and no lacing. Aroma of unrefined grain and weird dry ester is not overly pleasant. Taste is a mix between rich medium sweet grains with again some dry ester. Full body with good carbonation is pleasant. I have to admit that this is not a style that I am overly knowledgeable about or that I appreciated a whole lot but I thought this was acceptable.

Draft at the Cottage and a Kitchen, August 25, 2006, with GRM. Golden lager with a thin white head. Sweet fruity aroma with notes of watermelon and light sulfur. In mouth, a rather sweet unbalanced kolsch, with lots of phenolics, nail polish remover, and an oily mouthfeel. A rather cloying offering. I will have to give it another chance when the second batch is available as this is the first batch by these courageous entrepeneurs (just consider what happened to OVBC, Harts, Masters, Abe and Roscoes, Copperhead...in the difficult eastern ON market!...Ottawa is a hard nut to crack!).
