Kalea Bier-Adventkalender 20.12.2020 Ich bin grundsätzlich kein großer Bockbier-Freund, aber zu Weihnachten gehört so was einfach dazu. Und wenn es dann noch so aromatisch gelungen ist wie dieses, dann greit man gerne zu. Der Grohe Bock erfreut durch seine beerigen Fruchtnoten und Aromen nach Kirsche, Traube und Karamell. Hat mir gut gefallen.

Pours a hazy yellow color. Aromas of yeast, wheat, bananas and alcohol. Taste of yeast, bananas, spices and alcohol.

Brown with a fading, frothy head. Very sweet aroma with lots of caramel on top of oak. Dank and wet oak that’s begun to, well, rot. Whiskey underneath. Taste is pleasant, sweet but not so much as the aroma would indicate. Definitely a dessert beer though with rising bourbon on the backside. Pleasant, with the bourbon complementing the bock instead of overwhelming it. Medium to full bodied, lightly sticky, mild carbonation. Not the mostly appealing aroma but otherwise good.

Grohe Pils, Flasche von Alldrink, Darmstadt. - Satt goldgelb, klar. - In der Nase recht derbe, norddeutsche Pils-Herbe, krautig und leicht schwefelig. - Antrunk schlank hellmalzig mit einem Hauch Vanille, zarter Honigsüße und kräftiger doch etwas leerer Hopfenherbe. Milder rezent, weich. Im trockenen Abgang leicht schwefelige krautige Bittere. - Dieses Pils orientiert sich in seiner ruppigen Bittere erkennbar an norddeutschen (Jever) Vorbildern (obwohl der Süden doch viel näher läge), ist aber mit mehr Liebe und Qualität gebraut als diese. Ich bin von Haus kein Freund von Uhudler, den man in verschiedenen Ländern unter dem Titel Hauswein bekommt. Uhudler ist eine Traubensorte, die kaum Pflege und Sonne braucht. Geschmacklich kann Uhudlerwein wie auch dieses Bier zwar mit einem eigenen Charakter punkten, aber wirklich feine Aromen, die zu Hopfen und Malz passen, finde ich nicht. Als Liebesgeschenk oder einmalige Spezialität ok, aber die belgischen Fruchtbiere sind mir lieber.

500ml bottle. Very nice, clear, dark copper colour with average, thick, creamy, moderately lasting and lacing, off-white head. Weak, mellow malty aroma, a touch of caramel and vanilla, estery fruity overtones. Taste is sweet-ish, pale and caramel malty, hints of starch, wallpaper paste, a touch of cardboard, estery fruity overtones with yellow stone fruit aspects, nectarine. Oily texture, smooth, soft, silky, minimally cloying palate, very fine and soft carbonation. Well crafted concerning secondary aspects (appearance and mouthfeel), sadly not overly tasty - OK.

22-07-20 // bottle from Maruhn. Beginner Pale Ale. Very easy. American C-hops and generally very mild. Some mild tropic hop touches on a mild biscuity malt body.

Gold with a frothy, white head. Aroma a mix of herbs, honey and metal. Taste is mildly bitter, picking up slightly at the end, which is grassy, grainy and just a touch metallic. Medium bodied, moderate carbonation. Fairly run of the mill Helles, but not bad.

Stark bananiger Beginn. Hefig-süß, geringe Karbonisierung, alkoholisch malzig. Intensiv vergoren bananiger Mittelteil, hohe Süffigkeit. Weich, Aromen von gebrannten Nüssen, viel Karamell. Würziger, hefig-alkoholischer Abgang. 11/12/10/12//12
