Hazy brown orange colour, no real head. Aroma of glue, vinegar and peanuts. Salty flavour, sesame seeds, sweat and banana. Quite creamy. Finish salty peanuts. Don’t like the nose of the beer, but the flavour isn’t bad, though I wouldn’t want to drink a whole bottle of it. Quite a weird beer, to say the least.
(From 50cL plastic bottle @ Borefts 2013. 14% ABV. My 2nd beer from Rwanda. It seems like this beer found it’s way to almost everyone present at Borefts. I don’t know who originally brought this one, but thanks for the pour, KyotoLefty!)

One of the plastic bottles kindly provided by Fin at Borefts ’13, many thanks for this country tick ’whale’ my friend! Murky light orange/yellow - akin to the colour of pineapple juice, a very thin white covering straddles the top of the glass. Nose is sour fruits, light balsams, tarte grapes, lactic notes. Taste comprises dank piss, sugar, bitter citrics, light vinegar, earthy notes. Medium bodied, fine carbonation, earthy mineral grittyness in the last hurrah and to be frank hurrah it was the last hurrah ! This fellow raters is NO Dark Horse Lambeak wants blood orange, a pleasant drop in comparison. No plants were harmed in the rating of this beer !!! Shite none the less !

Biggest WTF beer I’ve sampled at Borefts this year. I believe Martinus came to our table with this bottle. Insane murky beige colour, like a muddy waterstream after a big rainstorm in some remote African village. Also: There’s no head. Smells sour, lots of alcohol and somehow reminds me of whisky. Tastes some banana, sweet (which contradicts the smell) and there’s lots of alcohol to be found in this beer. I imagine this is like the pruno they make in prisons. Full body, no carbo and very alcoholic. I feel slightly sorry for the people or Rwanda now. It’s been a great experience to try this one though!

Courtesey & thx! to KyotoLefty. 500 ml. bottle sampled @ Borefts 2013. Clear, screwtop PET bottle. 14 % ABV banana beer from Rwanda? Wow. RB says 12 % ABV, bottle said 14 % ABV. Very murky yellow with zero head. Nose is horrifying, vinegar, salted canned peanuts, rotting wheat field & banana,… brutal, ehhh…. Taste is more palatable & extremely weird, salty, lots of salted canned peanuts combined with very sweet banana, dust, sweet, hint acidity,… no indication of the ABV whatsoever. Taste is actually compelling but impossible to drink more than one sip. Creamy body. At the very least this is unlike any other beer I have had, unbelievably bizarre.
