(Cask at New Oxford, Salford, 23 July 2009) Copper colour with brief, off-white head. Malty nose with dried fruit, prunes, dried apricots and a touch of sweet malt. Malty, fruity taste with dried fruit, apricots, orange and a balanced bitterness in the finish. Medium body, with some malt sweetnees throughout. Nice and tasty beer.

(Cask at Lion Tavern, Liverpool, 21 July 2009) Pale amber colour with creamy, off-white head. Fruity, malty nose with dried apricots, orange and dusty hops. Malty, fruity taste with notes of apricots, biscuity malt, toast and a gentle bitterness in the finish. Rather light body. Decent but not really exciting.

Gravity dispensed from cask at the Kingston Arms, Cambridge (August Beer Festival). Amber with a ring of white head; grainy aroma; thin grainy flavour to start, then a burst of honey; dry, papery finish.

Cask@GBBF2009. Golden colour, small white head. Aroma is fruits, wood, canilla and some mild grassyness. Flavour is quite much the same. Big grassy finish.

Cask@GBBF 2009. Golden color, small steady white head. Malty, light citrus hoppy aroma. Light citrusy Cascade hops, some backing malts. A bit boring, although would go with food.

Cask at the Old Windmill, Coventry on 28th October 2008, guest beer. Flavoursome for its strength, satisfyingly rounded and a good balance of hop and malt is maintained until the finish where malt begins to dominate. Clean and satisfying.

Cask@Newark Beer Festival, 2009. Amber beer with a mildly hopped aroma, and a mildly hopped and dry flavour. Overall a nice hopped beer.

Cask, handpump at The Chequers, Little Gransden, Cambs, home of the ’Son of Sid Brewery’ Poured mid amber with a slim white head, good clarity and nicley citric. This possibly suffered a little from being consumed after the ’Son of Sid’ Chopper as the hops were still being tasted from that one but it was a very good beer all the same. Sweet honey and good juiciness with a gentle fizzing bitterness struggling to make much of an impact. Likeable and thoroughly decent beer, but I’ll return to the Chopper next. A6 A4 F7 P3 Ov13 3.3

Cask (handpump) @ Great British Beer Festival, GBBF 2008, Earls Court, London, England SW5.Clear medium yellow color with a average, frothy, good lacing, mostly lasting, white to off-white head. Aroma is moderate malty, toasted. Flavor is moderate sweet with a average duration. Body is medium, texture is oily to watery, carbonation is soft to flat. (080808)
