Description
Brixton Brewery is one of London’s established craft breweries, making beer in the heart of one of London’s most colourful and famous neighbourhoods. We were founded in 2013 by two local couples, Jez and Libby and Mike and Xochitl, but our shared passion for beer started years before that, when we met in the old Hive Bar (now Craft Beer Co. Brixton), and bonded over newborn babies, and a dream of opening a brewery. We reckoned that every great neighbourhood deserves a great brewery, and we wanted to bring one to Brixton.
In 2017 Brixton Brewery announced the biggest news in its short history. That it had partnered with Heineken UK in a deal that would enable the business to open a second site in Brixton, boost capacity nearly tenfold from its 3,000hl site to up to 30,000hl, and significantly grow its team as a result.
As per 2021, Brixton is 100% owned by Heineken.
Brixton now only carry out small-scale brewing. Production brewing moved to Beavertown in September 2024.

Clear pale gold with a bubbly white head and a mellow aroma of tropical and citrus fruit. Light bodied and moderately carbonated, there’s a dryness to the fruity taste, with a subtle bitterness in the finish

Keg at the Victoria, Woodham. Citrus aroma with hints of lagery yeast. Medium.good. Bubbly. Foamy bright white head. Initial light sweet taste with with a yeasty streak. Some low key citrus sourness. Then develops light grainy bitterness. Eventually develops more long lasting sugary sweetness. Light bodied. Thin but slick. Soft fizzy carbonation. Dry astringent finish. Decent enough Pils style lager... or Czech style as I now note.

330ml bottle @ monthly tasting, Chez Sophie, Oct 20. Thanks Mark for bringing this the penultimate beer of the evening. Pours very dark with thick deep brown head. Brilliant roasted malt and coffee on the nose. Smooth on the palate, full bodied with a nice alluring sweetness and lovely subtle roast hints. Gentle whisky influence and nice coffee moments. This is very good indeed. Best I've had from Brixton.
