Description
Craft beer in its purest form is what Sebastian Sauer, the head behind Freigeist beer culture, produces. Sebastian is known among experts as one of the first craft beer brewers in Germany. True or not, he's a veteran in the craft beer scene and an expert who is second to none. It's not for nothing that his beers are more popular than any other German beer in the USA, the home of craft beer.
Free spirit beer culture is conquering the craft beer world with the salvation of old, long-forgotten beer styles. Sebastian reads himself into the matter until he has found out all the ingredients of the original recipe and the subtleties and secrets of the old brewing style. With this knowledge, he then ponders how the beer would be brewed these days and what ingredients would be used. He doesn't want to bring old camels out of grandma's handbag to the light of day, but rather to transport the beers of the past with skill and expertise into the present. His beers are therefore not just reproductions of old recipes, but rather modern new editions. With this concept, the brewery has made a good name for itself in the craft beer scene and attracted international attention.

Interesting Pilsner: Nose is grassy, herbal, slightly malty. Taste is malty, rather sweet and fruity. Not as bitter as expected. Rather short finish

0.75 l bottle shared with DogFishHead, JFK and Ogi. Unclear reddish golden, small head. Oily texture. Aroma is coconut at first, vinegar after, light glue, after awhile tosted nuts, almonds, white grapes along with funky yeasty notes. Hints of oak. Oily, soft, sour, smooth, slick and soft. Moderate sourness, vinous, vinegar, stone fruit and grapes. Sharp sourness but body is very smooth. Medium body, light finish.

Bottle at Ambasada with Ogi and Frane. Murky dark orange body, not much off-white head. Bit oily, leathery, fruity, tart wild aroma. Tart, leathery, pleasantly juicy-fruity taste, red orange, surprisingly not astringent. --- Beer merged from original tick of Freigeist / Brekeriet / Ca' del Brado Sauerland Euroblend 2021 on 30 Mar 2024 at 19:48 - Score: Appearance - 8 | Aroma - 7 | Flavor - 8 | Texture - 8 | Overall - 7.5. Decent beer. Stuck 15 years in the past. It’s okay. Just more of a west coast ipa. Bier lager Köln

0.75 l bottle from 'Bierothek' (online), 5.5% abv. Very hazy, pale golden with a few white bubbles on top of it. Slightly sweetish, sourish, rather fruity, a bit vinous aroma of lemon, vinegar, rhubarb, white wine and a touch of honey. A little sweet, quite sour, rather fruity and a bit vinous taste of lemon, vinegar, some white wine, a touch of honey and hints of gooseberry, followed by a medium long fairly tart, slightly dry finish. Medium body, quite astringent and gently effervescent mouthfeel, soft carbonation. Quite refreshing, yet rather sharp and monotonous.
