Black Heart. Keg. Bright clear gold beer, small pale cream colour head. Palate is light and minerally crisp. Light pale malts. Nice touch of mellow lavender, would have been easy to over do it. Trace of citrus. Light crisp finish. Light, floral and crisp.

On cask at the Haymarket. Appearance - golden amber with a decent head. Nose - orange, toffee and light biscuit. Taste - toffee, hazelnuts and an orange tang on the finish. Palate - light to medium bodied with a creamy yet tangy texture and a fairly good finish. Overall - a solid golden ale.

Cask at Hector’s. Clear amber body with a thin white head that holds. Light lacing. Aroma of straw and earth. Flavour of lightly roasted malt and not much more. Stewed tea maybe. Medium body with a flat, oily texture. Bland but drinkable. Strange name for a beer that’s not particularly hoppy...

Cask@Christopher Hatton. Deep copper colour with a mediumsized beige head. Aroma is sweet malts, biscuits, toffee, chocolate and some mild spicy notes. Flavour is nutty, chocolaty, wooden, toffeeish and caramelly.

500ml bottle as Baytown Smuggler’s Haul. Chestnut brown with a foamy beige head leaving lacing and malty fruity aroma. Flavour is malt, mollasses, raisins, chocolate & coffee, nutty and light roast bitterness. Smooth mouthfeel, medium bodied, soft to medium carbonation, malty bitter finish. Quite drinkable.
