12 oz., loose bottle rack at Binny’s. Dated 30-SET-09 Ho hum. So I check off another country with another Heineken wannabe. But at least this came in a brown bottle. Not that it helped. Heavy, corny DMS smell as soon as I cracked the cap. Looks like a beer anyway. Taste has more of that corn (is that one of the "grains" in the description?). After a while, the corn taste fades, leaving mostly a malta soda taste. But at least a bit dry, like an actual finished beer. A trace of bitterness not related to any hops. Taste gets a little better by the end. Another light lager that probably goes down well in tropical climes. And, after 5 years, my first Central American beer.

Pours clear gold with minute long bright white head. The aroma has notes of over sweet malts mixing with a bit of floral and earthy hops. The taste has a carbonation enhanced bite of bitter hops and a touch of acidity. About midway earthiness makes some noise for a moment our two. Behind the initial burst are mild notes of sweet and grainy malts. It smells like a beer that will quickly end up too sweet but it really never does.

Pours pale yellow into a shaker. Bright white head recedes to scum surface. Corn aromas. Flat and nonexistent. Lasting water finish. It’s hard to believe they snuck 4+% into this beer. However, it doesn’t taste bad.

canned (thanks tbone_!). Rubyish amber colour with mediumsized brown lively bubbly head, that disappears quite fast. Aroma is maize, mild metal, and some grainyness. Also some mild roasted notes. Flavour is mildly roasted malts with some mild dark fruits and mild syrup. A quite pleasant dar beer, which is a bit too sweet for my taste though.

Can, shared by Maria - my favorite beer Goddess. The pour has a clear, copper body with an off-white to beige head. Grainy, caramel nose with a decent dose of malt and fruityness. Sweet, fruity and caramel flavor, finishing caramel-sweet. Medium to thin in the mouth. A pleasant and fruity beer, quite surprisingly considering my expectations for a beer from Costa Rica. (080229)

Can 350 ml (BB 04/2008)
Golden color, decent white head. Aroma of rye bread and mash, quite typical sticky low alco brew -aroma. Medium-bodied. Bready with typical low alco harsh, brew mash -flavors. A bit carbonated. Compared to Costa Rican lagers, reasonably drinkable (if you need to have non alcoholic beer) and flowless in the N/A category.

Can, alc. 5.2 % (BB 06/2008)
Pale yellow color, decent white head. Lively carbonation. Strong aroma of cereals, plastic and cardboard. Light palate. Quite watery and tasteless. Only some cardboardish flavors with sweet maltyness. Almost as bad as lemon version of this.

Amber-nut brown color, small off-white head. Aroma of licorice and caramel. Light caramelly brew. There are hints of licorice and cardboardish hops in the flavor. Similiar than some Portuguese dark beers.
