GABF 2007. A hazy pale golden beer with a thin orangey head. The aroma is acidic brettanomyces-like with notes of berries as well as light notes of wood. The flavor is lovey acidic - that draws out the mouthwater with light notes of cherries. Nice.

Consumed at the Squatter’s Brewpub in SLC. 12oz bottle (9% ABV) poured into a brandy like tulip glass with clear bubbly gold body churning up a regenerative bright white head and cobweb lacing. The aroma has a first whiff pulse of wood that is instantly covered up by apples, pineapples, tart cherries, some Brett tartness and some spiciness in the background. The taste is nearly rich and creamy in the mouth feel to start with notes of apple and mild sweetness mixing with candi sugar, sweet sugar coated pineapple, a bit of banana and a mild yet building cherry note. By midway very mild tart notes surface with a sustained level of sweetness keeping it in check (for my tastes). I also get some faint wood notes as the finish approaches with a lingering rip cherry note, apple and faint banana in tow. Each of these notes ends the experience with well rounded and blended tones mingling together creating a very pleasing experience. YUM. Age has done this brew nicely. There is zero sense of the ABV. I noticed after a while of enjoying every ounce of this brew that the level of Brett noticed in the nose is very mild in the taste. Wow. YOU need to try this beer before it’s gone!

Poured on tap @ Squatter’s Brewpub in SLC. It has a clear garnet body with infra red edges and lasting light brown head. The aroma is roasty malts and nuttiness with burnt malts in the background. The taste is initially both sweet and roasty. As the experience progresses it then slowly becomes more and more roasty with a hint of burnt malts, some nuttiness and hints of chocolate.

Poured on tap @ Squatter’s Brewpub in SLC. It has a deep gold to copper body with lasting white head. A moderate aroma carries citrus hops, orange juice and sweet maltiness. The taste starts crisp and refreshing with citrus hoppiness mixing with a moderate backbone of sweet malts. The hops build in both strength and bitterness as the taste moves to the finish. It never becomes IPA hoppy but it is assertive for the style. Yum.

Poured on tap @ Squatter’s Brewpub in SLC. It has a deep copper body with lasting white head and cobweb lacing. The aroma has roasted caramelized malts, a bit of buttered bread along with spice and citrus orange smelling hops. The taste has dual competing notes of roasty to caramel maltiness and spicy to citrus hoppiness. Each time I begin to enjoy the rich maltiness a note hops wells up and joins in bringing citrusy to spicy goodness. A refreshing brew that attains a pleasing balance.

Poured on tap @ Squatter’s Brewpub in SLC. It has a clear deep copper body with lasting off white head and sheet lacing. The mild aroma carried notes of roasted malts and faint tartness. The taste feels thin to start with some spicy hop notes to go along with a growing moderately roasted maltiness. It has just a hint of organic malt twang that can quickly get distracting (even repulsive) in other beers. Not here though. Pretty straight up un-remarkable amber.

Poured on tap @ Squatter’s Brewpub in SLC. It has a copper body with thin white head. The aroma is nutty and grainy malts and not much else. The nose is a bit on the light side. The taste is rich fresh Munich grain malts with some biscuit and crystal like malts added in. It ends a bit dry with a touch of nuttiness and toffee. A mildly spicy hoppiness carries along throughout the flavor. Nice balance medley of flavors.

Poured on nitro tap @ Squatter’s Brewpub in SLC. It has a clear copper to brown body and thin white foam head. Wow, it has an inviting rich roasty to nutty aroma that makes it hard not to take a quick swig. The taste is nutty and mildly roasty to start. It stays that way from front to back making me briefly re-think the quality of my taste buds. OK, I also get faint caramel and a brief hint of buttered bread. Very tasty Brown.

Poured on tap @ Squatter’s Brewpub in SLC. It has a hazy copper to gold body and white foam head. The aroma has full wheat notes followed by grain malts, yeast spice and faint citrus. The taste is grainy malts to wheat up front followed by mild orange citrus moving into lemon citrus notes into the finish. About midway the wheat becomes more noticeable and carries nicely into the finish. Upon warming I notice the nose developed some bubble gum notes.

This 12oz bottle came as a "freebie" in the free trade with Footbalm. Pours a transparent, orange yellow with tons of carbonation and a tight, lacing, sudsy head. Aroma is very typical of an English Pale Ale, some and malt married together with nothing jumping out as the lead aroma. Get your nose in there and you’ll pick up biscuits, slight resin and leafy vegetables. Flavor has more citrus than the nose would indicate, lemons and oranges with slightly grainy bread and something floral like dandelions. Dry finish has some mild lasting bitterness. Good session beer, well crafted.
