Bottled at GJBF 2012 Osaka. Pale amber color. Aroma of metal, cherry, a little bit of caramel. Light, industrial, metallic flavor with almost nothing going on. Thin and not tasty.

Pours deep mahogany into a shaker. Mocha head with medium retention recedes leaving spot lacing. Mild dark caramel aromas. Mildly sour, stale dark caramel upfront turning dry in the lasting chalky chocolate finish.

Pours deep amber into a shaker. Off-white micro head with excellent retention. Sweet and sour caramel aromas. Soft with sour malt front to back. Lasting vegetal finish.

Shaker draft at Llywelyn’s Pub in Overland Park, Kansas. The pour is black brown, with a small light tan head. The aroma is light char, along with a hint of an apple fruit sweetness. The taste is the roast followed by malt sweet and the finish shows some yeast esters. The palate is medium to light bodied, soft carbonation, and a dry flint finish. Nice enough, easy drinking, I am always up for a Shwarzbier,.

12oz bottle poured into a shaker. Pours black with a thin ring of off-white head. Aroma of light caramel and chocolate with some faint herbal hops. Taste is light bitter and light sweet. Coffee, chocolate and faint sprucy hops. Medium bodied with a somewhat creamy texture. Lively carbonation and a longish finish. Overall, not bad. I could drink this again.

12oz bottle poured into an English Pint. Pours a clear amber with about a finger of white head. Aroma of cereal grains and caramel. Taste is light bitter. Cereal, caramel and grassy hops. Medium bodied with a somewhat thick texture. Lively carbonation and a long finish. Overall, not bad. I’d gladly drink this again.

Location: 12 oz bottle, 11/7/11
Aroma: The nose has some caramel malts and citrus/orange fruity notes
Appearance: It pours cloudy dark orange color with a beige head and fairly heavy lace
Flavor: The taste is light-medium sweet and lightly bitter, with similar components to the nose
Palate: The body is light, it has an average carbonation, and the mouthfeel is decent, but a touch watery
Overall Impression: Overall, this is a fairly sessionable (I know the ABV is a drop over 5%, but it is close enough for government work), but unexciting beer. I don't have much to add to that. Unremarkable.

bottle - Pours near black with a tan head. It has a very mild roast malt aroma. The flavor is roasty with maybe some coffee, but this brew is on the watery side and is underwhelming. Drinkable.

On tap at McSorley’s Old Alehouse, New York NY on 29th July 2011. Dark brown with thick foamy creamy-white head. Quite basic flavourwise with roast malts and a hoppy/caramelly taste in-mouth. Grainy/zingy mouthfeel, and a fairly satisfying but shortlived bittersweet finish.
