[Cask at the Back of Beyond (JDW), Reading.] A dark peaty brown pour, almost black with a scant covering of cream head; roasted malt aroma; dry in the mouth with some licorice and aniseed flavours; then some blackcurrants and chocolate in the finish. A tasty stout.

[Cask at the Back of Beyond (JDW), Reading.] A hazy amber pour with a tight cream coloured head; citrusy aroma with a touch of pine; soft stone fruit taste to start then some pithy citrus giving an assertive bitterness; this then calms down leaving a finish of chewy malts and bitter orange marmalade. Very tasty.

Cask at CBC, Covent Garden on 3rd May 2025. Slightly hazy amber with shallow foam and spot lacing. Pungent aroma. Impressive maltiness in-mouth with zesty peel and spices. A finish of citrus peel hoppiness and rounding malts. Medium bodied with a velvet smooth mouthfeel.

[Cask at the Greyfriar, Reading.] A pale amber pour is tight cream coloured head; orchard fruit aroma of; a chalky body with a sharp sour apple taste, softened by some pear; and a dry floral finish. This didn’t turn me on.

Cask at Moon under Water, Wolverhampton. Pours dark brown with a medium sized foamy cream head and good lacing. The aroma is not very prominent, but has hints of bitterness and cinnamon. In the mouth there is a fair amount of bitterness but with a little underlying sweetness. Malts and dark fruits to the fore in the flavour with some traditional hops coming through later. Bitterness lasts into the finish. This is quite nice.

Cask at Briar Rose, Birmingham. Not too keen on this one, it had a very malty-twiggy-nuttiness to it which was not for me. Some light fruitiness in the middle. Nice smoothness, drying finish, good lacing.
