Description
Rocky Head Brewery is a micro (5BBL) brewery set up by a group of friends inspired by the American Craft Brewing scene. The brewery is probably the most ramshackle in the UK, equipment sourced and modified from here, there and everywhere.. It seems to work though! We craft artisanal batches of intensely flavoured pale ale by hand, loaded with American and NZ hops.

Bottle from Oddbins London Bridge. Hazy cloudy gold amber beer lasting cream head. Bit of orange on the aroma. It’s smooth in the mouth good carbonation some mineral character. Some more subtle orange flavour builds through the mouth some bitterness some heat but hides the abv well. Needs a bit more hop maybe. Subtle good condition ok lasting orange flavour.

Bottle at home, from Oddbins LB, 13/04/14. Almost clear golden with a big old off white head formed of bubbles. Nose is citric sherbets, orange pith, light spice, toasty malt, grapefruit peel, juicy hop ring, light earthy minerals. Taste comprises earthy hops, big mineral bite Medium bodied, fine carbonation, semi drying close laced with chalky minerals and light spice. Nice earthy IPA, lots of mineral bite, this one grew one me, very frefreshing after mowing the lawn! I like mineral forward APA’s/IPA’s but not to everyones taste I realise!

330ml bottle. Slightly cloudy golden colour with average to huge, frothy, half-way lasting, minimally lacing, white head. Fruity and slightly floral hoppy and yeasty aroma, fruity notes of strawberry, peach with slightly artificial character of fruit gums. Taste is dry, slightly grassy and minimally fruity hoppy, slightly yeasty, more fruity notes seem to come from "below", gooseberry, peach, again with the artificial fruit gum touch, subtle sweetness, relatively lively carbonation. Somehow like a Belgian-APA.

Bottle at home, from Oddbins London Bridge, 12/04/14. Hazy orange wth a good sized off white head that dissipates somewhat then settles in for the rate! Nose is earthy hop, bitter orange, apricot, citric sherbetdom, hay, light spice. Taste comprises orange pith, bitter citric rind, light apricot notes, big chalky minerals, earthy hops, straw. Medium bodied, fine carbonation, earthy mineralised hop pangs in the finale. Ok IPA, lacks hop presence and a little too earthy and basic to be a great in this style though.

Bottle shared by Dutchdrebus @ weekly tasting. Hazy yellow color, medium sized white head. Can’t smell a goddamn thing due to extreme pollen allergy. Taste lightly malts, bitter hops, bitter. Decent IPA, but I miss the fruitiness. Decent body and carbonation.
