Description
Since 1996, our brewing philosophy has been quite simple – to brew memorable, well balanced and flavourful beers, regardless of the style.

From light and crisp, to malt forward and smooth, all the way to loaded with hops… each of our brews are crafted using 100% malted barley, the finest hops, water and yeast.

Founded in Kelowna, BC, now brewing in our expanded facility with Big Rock Brewery in North Vancouver’s Brewery Creek district, drop by if you’re in the neighbourhood and we’ll show you first hand how we make great beer.

Draft - Sweet green apple. Clear gold, no head or effervescence. Think jolly rancher, very candy sweet with a mild tart finish. Not bad on a hot day but a bit sweet.

Strong & sweet maltiness, layer of chewy caramel (reminds me of caramel squares), bit bready, dried cranberries

Bottle - Toffee, raisin, toasted malts and rum. Clear but dark amber with a thin brown head. Boozy toffee, some dark fruit and alcohol burn. Finish has a bit of bitterness and is quite dry. Not very well balanced in my opinion and too much booze.

650ml bottle [8.2% abv as per label. Thanx to Antonie and Patrick!]. Darkest brown colour with average, firm, frothy to creamy, fairly lasting, moderately lacing, beige to tan head. Dark malty aroma with a roasty touch, hints of coffee, a touch of ashes, cautious hints of blue and other dark berries, herbal and earthy hoppy overtones. Taste is dry to bitter hoppy, minimally sweet fruity undertones, hints of blue and dark berries, some milk chocolate and dark bitter chocolate; lasting bitter finish. Black IPA with a somehow unpresent, supplementing malt basis, very integrated flavours making it hard to set a demarcation line between hop and malt partitions. And exactly therefore unhappily a bit too unhopp(il)y.

Bottle - Roasted malts, chocolate and slight raspberry. Jet black with a thin brown head. Raspberry dominates right out of the gate followed by the roasted malts and chocolate undertones. A bit sweet which sits on the palate but not bad.

750 ml bottle. Pours and orange/amber with medium head. Aromas of caramel, wood, and malts. Vinous flavors including green wood, vinegar. Odd and lacking balance.

Bottle from LCBO. Pours a very dark brown with a one finger foamy beige head that disappears quickly. Aroma is chocolate and malt with piney hops in the background. Sweet chocolate and coffee with bitterness at the end. Very well balanced. Nice creamy mouth and not nearly as heavy as it looks. All that is good in a stout and an IPA.

Perfect pour of grey dark beige head and a very brown-black body. Good job on the looks! Solid aroma of overlapping hops with barley notes in the background, creating an appealing complexity: coffee notes, chocolate, well balanced indeed. Flavour is a nice bitter mix of heavy hops with barley stout, coffee and bitter hoppiness in a perfect mix. Dry finish. Tree totally hit the mark with this one. Well done.
