30 cl. bottle @ home, bought @ Coop. Copper red with a thin off-white head. Malty aroma. Malty taste with some caramel. A light earthy tone in the aftertaste. Not a taste explosion but quit nice in its own way.

Nitro can, 0.5l. Dark brown color with thick creamy brownish head. Aroma of caramel, coffee, chocolate, grassy hops and some smoke. Taste start with refreshing chocolate note and followed by strong roasted coffee and light smokey notes. Aftertaste is medium bitter and strong roasted. Medium body, creamy texture and almost flat carbonation in palate. Waiting to try draught version, which must be even better...

33cl Bottle on Syros, Greece, from the supermarket. Brewed by Athenian Brewery. Clear amber colour, off-white head. Aroma of sweet malts, nuts, caramel, bread, alcohol. Flavour is much the same, with some fruity and sweet alcohol notes. Highly drinkable. Light bodied.

Served on tap at Murphy’s Bar, High Street Galway, Eire into a Beamish pint glass - Jan ’12. Dark black with a finger of off-white head. Nice aroma from this stout, roasted malt and a fair dose of coffee, packs a punch to the nose when contrasted with Guinness! Good rich roasted malt taste a little smokey perhaps and still that hint of coffee coming over and throw in a little chocolate. Thinnish in body, creamy in the mouth, went down well. In summary this was the first time I’d had a pint of Beamish for some 15 years or so and I quite enjoyed it This was partly due to a succession of ’ok’ pints of it’s blander cousin Guinness, but next time in the ’old country’ I will definetly seek Beamish out again!

Charcoal and raisin nose. Dark mahogany, slow building medium creamy tan head, cascading carbonation. Charcoal flavor with a hint of raisin. Finishes with unmalted barley. Creamy, but a little too thin.

Pint from tap at a bar in Dublin. Black with a beige, creamy head. Aroma of roasted malt with some caramel and hints of coffee and hops. Sweet, malty and slightly creamy with some bitterness. Not so different from Guinness, but I think I prefer this one. Good industrial stout, but slightly boring. (2011-06-11)
