Pours a near black with some ruby highlights, 1/2 inch creamy off white head sticks around forever and leaves mad lacing. Aroma is of coffee, some cocoa, some chocolate milk. Taste hits first with the roast bitterness, then some dried fruit and some cocoa. Body is medium to thin. Crisp carbonation. Great Irish stout, very sessionable.

Tap @ Biskopen, Bergen. Pours a pitch black body with a big creamy nitro head. Roasted malts, a hint of smoke and a good chocolate nose. This is basically a Guinness only a bit sweeter and a bit thinner body. A nice stout and a good alternative to Guinness.

Purchased at Archer Liquors in Chicago, IL; enjoyed prior to watching Monday Night Football. Appearance is like an advertisement, pure black with a rich, frothy off white / tan head. Aroma a bit milky with chocolate notes, also a hint of coffee and roasted malt. Taste a bit more smokey than Guinness, just as rich and creamy. I’d say a little more flavor as well, more chocolate and coffee. Rather enjoyable.

Murphy’s & Gonzalez, NY draft ($6): This is one of those beers that I have probably at some point had, but thought I had already rated it and never got around to it. It is also one of those beers, which you can find in almost every country in the world... In any case, the beer pours an amber color, with a creamy head. Obviously, the aroma leans toward the malty side of things and the hops are kept in the back. The beer itself is very sessionable and is pleasant to drink, although certainly not interesting. Well, at least I finally rated this beer. Hehe.

Pint widget can, $1.80 loose @ Binny’s. My first Welsh-brewed beer. I’ll accept it only as a technicality. Can pours nicely, raising happy milk chocolate smell, nice cascade of bubbles. Settles to a white 1/2-inch nitro head over a black stout body, few visible bubbles. Taste has a creamy start from the foam. Taste is actually too smooth. Just a nice malt body with a slight touch of roastiness. Some bitterness at the sides of the tongue. Well, it is a session beer, something to keep your hand busy while chatting, and at least much more interesting than a Lite. Texture is nice, adding to a non-distracting beer experience.

Decent grainy English-style ale with little head, bright brown body. Lots of malt and grain in the flavour, medium-wet finish. A reliable brew, if not entirely exciting.

Nitro can. Almost black with a dense beige head. Mild aroma of chocolate milk, roasted malt, flowers. Very smooth mouthfeel. Taste is gentle and light with a bare touch of roast, milky chocolate and a mild drying finish. Hasn’t got an awful lot going for it but what there is is all in sync.
