Can sample at a tasting at Yoav’s place. Thanks Dror Sparrow. Black with a light brown foam. Sweet aroma of dark chocolate, vanilla, a bit of milk and a bit of coffee. Nice flavor of chocolate and vanilla, sweetish with a moderately bitter finish. Medium-bodied. Good.

22 ounce bottle into tulip glass, no bottle dating. Pours lightly hazy ruby red color with a nice 2 finger dense light khaki head with great retention, that reduces to a nice cap that lingers. Nice soapy lacing clings on the glass. Aromas of big caramel, orange, grapefruit, tangerine, toast, brown sugar, brown bread, floral, and light rye spiciness. Nice and pleasant aromas with good balance and complexity; quite malt forward. Taste of caramel, orange, grapefruit, tangerine, brown sugar, toast, brown bread, floral, light pine, and light rye spiciness. Light pine bitterness on the finish; with lingering notes of caramel, citrus, brown sugar, toast, brown bread, floral, light pine, and light rye spiciness on the finish for a good bit. Nice balance and complexity of malt and hop flavors; malt forward with solid hop flavor balance; with minimal cloying sweetness present after the finish. Medium carbonation and medium-full bodied; with a very creamy and lightly slick mouthfeel that is nice. Alcohol is very well hidden with only a small warming noticed after the finish. Overall this is a nice imperial red ale. Good balance and complexity of malt and hop notes; and quite smooth to sip on. A pleasantly enjoyable offering.

Draft sample: STILL have some notes from the 2011 Midwest Brewers Fest. A little darker and cloudier than the Uinta WYLD I just had. Thin, clingy head of foam. Smell shows some good Cascades, a little citrus and pine. Good citrusy hop taste to it too. Caramel malts and crystal involved in sending it down very nicely. A lot more hop in the backstop.

Draft. Pours black like used oil with a half finger of dark tan head. Aroma is huge vanilla. Coffee, chocolate and black licorice follow. Taste is about the same. Medium sweet. Vanilla, caramel, licorice with a hint of oak. Full bodied with a thick and creamy texture. Soft carbonation and a very very long finish. Overall, great. I’ve not been too impressed with most of the stuff from Finch, but this one kicks ass.

can. to be honest, I have no idea of it’s color/appearance - I went straight from the can. Very solid IPA - smooth, yet hoppy. Super easy to drink. Liked it.
