Canned. Pale yellow, fizzy head. Some haylike hops in the nose. Light bodied and very papery. Sweet and soft, no bitterness. An outrageously silly idea this to make a Corona-like extra light beer by a brewer situated well north of the Arctic Circle. Still, the beer is better than what the commercial description makes you think.

(500 ml can). A shameless effort by Mack to reach the target group underage drinkers. I didn’t translate the commercial description from Norwegian - it’s all in English ’cause that’s supposed to sound "cooler and trendier" for Norwegian teenagers. I think I’m going to be sick. The beer? Extremely pale colour, NO aroma, NO taste, NO aftertaste. Sparkling water with 4.7% alcohol. There’s not one good thing to say about this beer. Not one. If this was the best beer in the world, I’d become a tee-totaller. I swear I would.

(500 ml can). Contract brewed by Mack for Norwegian Coop grocery stores, this beer is supposed to replace Husets Fatøl (which is still available in some stores). Deep golden colour, good head. Pleasant oak and toffee aroma. Flavour is not above average, drinkable but could use some more hops. At least the beer was better than my expectations, which were very low.

(500 ml can). Typical pils pale golden colour, large head diminishing rapidly. Moderate herbal pils aroma, flavour is slightly drier than the ordinary Mack pilsener. Not offensive, but not much to remember either. With all the beer varieties Mack brew, you'd think they could come up with something more exciting than umpteen varieties of uninteresting lagers.

(330 ml bottle). Amber colour, good head. Aroma is quite good, some caramel and oak. Flavour is a major disappointment, surprisingly tasteless, bland and boring, with some fusel notes (I did not have the beer as a chaser with aquavit, which is the brewery's recommended use of this beer). Aftertaste is short and not very good. Low bitterness. Not recommended!

(500 ml can). Contract brewed ice beer - the style for people who don't like beer. No offensive taste - no taste at all, really. Very pale golden sparkling water with alcohol. Oh yeah, it pours with a decent head.

This contract brewed Norwegian Coop beer is supposed to replace the "Husets Fatøl" which was brewed by Aass. Typical pils golden colour, moderate head. Rather sweet and flowery aroma. Flavour is not very special, a little hops on a background of boiled vegetables. The Aass "Husets" version was better.

I have no idea why this beer is named "musepils" (= mouse pilsener), maybe it suggests that this is a beer for mice, not men. It's also possible that it alludes to Norwegian slang: "mus" = pussy (and I'm not talking about cats here). In other words: This is a girlie beer. Fizzy pale golden, acceptable head. Weak aroma with some yeasty fruitiness. Hardly any flavour, at least it's not offensive. Low bitterness. A slight yeastiness in the short aftertaste.
