Description
Macks Ølbryggeri is the northernmost brewery in the world. The brewery was founded in 1877 by Ludwig Markus Mack. Mack is the fourth largest brewery in Norway, and is probably one of the strongest brands from Northern Norway. Our main production is located in Nordkjosbotn, approximately 70 km from Tromsø. Mack's historical sites in Tromsø houses our administration, the beer shop Kjeller 5, our legendary pub Ølhallen and Mack Microbrewery.

Dark golden autumn beer, some caramel sweetness. Drinkable, but you expect more from a seasonal brew.

Fairly dark golden, apparently made with some caramel malts / colour malts. Pleasant, slightly sweet flavour, a bit thin. Could use more hops.

Brewed by Mack (Tromsø) to get market shares in Nordland county, when Ringnes closed Nordlandsbryggeriet. This is just another one in the long list of 'neutral' pilseners, nothing special whatsoever. Could definitely use more hops.

Not as good as Aass Bock in any way, considerably thinner, fairly light brown colour, weaker aroma, more of a refreshment beer than a sipping beer, still it's drinkable - probably Mack's best product after all.

Pale yellow coloured. Very light bodied, crisp and with very low bitternes. Refreshing, but tastes more like a tropical lager than a beer brewed by the Arctic Sea.

This one has traditionally been the thinnest of Norwegian "klasse F" Christmas beers - the brewery will probably make a darker version this year. Not as bad the ratings in Norwegian newspapers tell you.

Rerate, new 500 ml bottle design as Mack GullMack, courtesy of Cardinal Pub & Bar, Stavanger. ABV is 6.5%. Pale yellow colour (paler than before?), big to moderate white head. Aroma of grassy hops and sweetish malts. The flavour is fairly sweet and sugary, with too little bitterness to balance it. Still drinkable.

A modern style pilsener, quite acceptable. Rerate (can): Very light golden colour, moderate head, very light bodied, fairly dry, distinct but slightly metallic bitterness.
