(Draught at Oliver Twist, Stockholm, 21 June 2008) Yellow colour with frothy, white head. Malty, fruity nose with toffee, butter, citrus, hay, grass and hints of spices. Malty, buttery taste with notes of dried fruit, citrus, banana and toffee. Medium body, with a disturbing sweetness, that isn’t really balanced by anything. Not really anything wrong with it, just a bit boring and way too sweet.

[750ml bottle from Sainsbury’s, Reading, shared with Jim to celebrate him moving house] Deep but lively brown with a moderate lasting beige head. Far too fizzy - this would be better with a softer carbonation. Flavour is some burnt malts but increasingly tastes just of muscovado suger/ molasses. A sticky, bittersweet finish. Pleasant enough but a little one-dimensional.

Bottled. A copper colored beer with a medium light tan head. The aroma is very sweet and very fruity, leaning towards being over ripe, I find peaches and oranges, combined with medium notes of dusty hops, yeast, and some spices, some coriander. The flavor is also very sweet - almost too sweet for me, with notes of alcohol, fruit, yeast, spices, and dusty hops, the spices include cardemomme and coriander. The finish is dry and alcohol, which leaves a slight metallic note combining with the fruity note that lasts for a long time. I find it a bit too simple, since it can’t hide the 9% ABV better. Or maybe I should have sampled it cold instead of letting it warm to around 12 degrees Centigrade.

330 ml. bottle. Poured a beautiful copper color with a multifinger beige head. A slightly rocky head with lacing as it went down. The aroma is passing strange - light - and it makes me think of lightly smoked herring (which I dearly love). Medium body with creamy carbonation. Still seems a bit smoky to me. The alcohol is detectable, but warming rather than objectionable. Finishes mildly sweet, with very light smoked fish notes. Perhaps a little herbal hop. A good beer to kick back with on an evening.
