Description

We brouwen ons bier volgens de slogan "Beer for Thought".

Bottle from Speciaalbierpakket. Aroma is dank fruity hops, tropical fruits, citrus, onions, weed, orange, grapefruit, herbal hops. Flavour is light sweet and medium bitter. Body is medium. Well done Frontaal, good variety of NE IPA, contrary to many other Dutch breweries they seem to understand the style.

Bottle from Drankenspeciaalzaak Jelle, Leeuwarden. Aroma is roasted malt, creamy lactose, caramel, light smoke, some milk chocolate and a hint of dark fruits. Flavour is above moderate sweet and light bitter. Body is light and weak. Nice milk stout aroma, but the flavour and body just can't match it.

7.4/10 Appearance 8 Aroma 8 Flavor 7 Texture 6 Overall 7.5
Bottle from Speciaalbierpakket. Aroma is roasted malt, coffee, subtle whiskey, liquorice, chocolate, with some notes of wood. Flavour is above medium sweet with a moderate roasty bitterness in the finish. Body is above medium, no sign of the 10%, perhaps a bit thin for the style. Fairly subtle barrel character here, but the aging has mellowed out the liquorice which I found too upfront in the base beer. I like this one, maybe a bit too subtle for its own good but I vastly prefer this over those iodine-bombs a lot of 'elite' Dutch breweries produce nowadays.

Bottle from Sterk Amsterdam. Aroma is herbal tea, orange peel, hops, pine resin, malt, bit candied fruits, touch caramel. Flavour is almost medium sweet with a fairly bitter finish. Body is medium. Lacks fresh fruity hoppiness, but this is enjoyable if you dig a lot of herbal tea in your IIPA. I quite liked it.
