Pours a hazy straw color with big white head. Aroma is fruity and sour, very funky. Flavors are weird. This is the first gueuze I have tried. Flavors of oak and sourness with a dry finish. Some musty notes. Medium body with soft carbonation and a velvety mouthfeel. The more I drink, the more I can appreciate the style. I look foward to tying more of this style.

Re-rate 4/1/12: Bottle shared at the 3rd Israeli Sour Tasting. Bottled 10/09. Hazy golden color with a white head. Aroma of barnyard and light leathery notes. Flavor has light sweetness, bit of malt and lovely bretty sourness. Medium-bodied. Nice and refreshing, but maybe still a bit too young. 8/3/7/3/16=3.7

(3/2/08) Bottle sample at Zythos Bier Festival 2008 in Sint Niklaas. Bottled 2/07. A rather clear golden color with a white head. Nice barnyard aroma. Sour citrusy flavor (lemon, some grapefruit). A bit bitter in the finish. Pleasant softly carbonated mouthfeel. A great Geuze. 7/3/8/4/16=3.8

Bottle. Aroma of tart raspberry. Hazy reddish amber color with a decent off-white head. Near medium body with coarse, mild carbonation. Flavor is lightly lactic with raspberries. A bit astringent in a woody way. A little sweet, but more sour. Gentle though. Smooth and tasty.

Typically sour gueuze aroma. Hazy golden color with a decent white head. Near medium body with creamy carbonation. Starts lacticly sour. Has funk and socks. Bit of grapefruit fibre. However, it is all very mild and relatively smooth. Not at all shocking.

2 yr lambik, Brouwer’s
Cloudy and flat, dark straw. Rich leathery nose with lemon. Flat body with lemon, light leather, peach and a sweetish kiss in the finish.

WSF ’09: Cloudy straw. Mega pedio shit nose. Fresh, footy and tart wih hints of leather. Funky lambic. Did not like this particular sample as much - 4-3-6-3--13 = 3.2

OLD RATE, before I appreciated sours: Let me start off by saying that I am not the biggest fan of most lambics (faro’s seem to be an exception). Smells of lambic yeast with some cherries far in the back. Pours with a large, pink head covering a muddy, bright red body. Good retention. Extremly sour and tart, but lambics aren’t my thing. Mouthpuckering describes the mouthfeel. My girlfriend liked it, I did not.

On tap at ZBF 08. Lovely clear gold colour with lasting ivory head. some lager malt on aroma, bit of toffee. Good condition. Doesn’t taste of 9.5% at all. Drinkable, just a little cardboardy. Oh and hilarious as the guy at the stand was so enthusiastic he explained the entire beer to me in Flemish before I told him I was English and didn’t understand a word.

Had this at ZBF Sint Niklaas, Belgium, 02-03-08 Pours with great clarity and a rather wonderful golden colour with just a slim white head. This beer seems to work on a couple of levels with the spices sitting lazily in the mouth as though they haven’t been totally incorporated into the beer and the other level sees a nice beer, quite soft mouthfeel with just a hint of alcohol, sweetness and malt. Some sweetness, cereal and a honey rush. Tasty and slips down well with a chunk of parmesan. A6 A3 T8 P4 Ov14 3.5
