From the bar on a bus at the Blue Collar Street Food Revolution, Reading. Hazy amber with a lasting white head and a soft fizz. Dust, cardboard, slight hints of caramel and fruit with a mild grubby bitterness. Poor fare, little better than the old school keg bitters if I?m honest.

Bottle at home, 30/08/16. Bought at Aldi, Blackwater. Sweet aroma ith a slight edge to it. Dark chestnut, verging on black. Initial frothy beige head, has some legs to it, does not just fade away. Soft bodied. Sweet with a bitter finish. Carbonation becomes evident when swallowing. The bottle references all sorts of aromas and I can pick up the dark fruit and hazlenuts, but it’s all very muted. Bland and inoffensive.

Bottle from Morrison’s, Todmorden. Amber coloured with a thin head. Has a good fruity nose, although hop dominates more in its taste.

500ml can in a parallel tasting with a Lidl (Poland) Argus Premium Lager: this came second in all aspects. Tasted as if there was lemonade within the brew, semi-sweet and weak in flavour and aroma. Not impressed: madness.

50cl can from B&M, Reading. A pale straw colour with a billowing white head; aroma of stale grains and damp cardboard; sweet cereal grain body; and a sticky finish. Just putting "craft" on the label doesn’t make a good lager.
