Bottle. Nose is sweet coffee, lactose, hazelnut, CO2. Taste is hazelnut, sweet coffee, a slightly stale coffee note, and a short dry iron finish. It’s hard to imagine a more forgettable beer and the finish is unpleasant.

Amber colour, minimal off-white head; aroma and taste of toasted bread, fruitiness and floral-grassy notes; correct ale

330ml bottle: BBD 31 Oct 15. Poured into a ’Palm’ badged tulip glass at home on 23 April 2015. Ruby hue to the dark brown body, clean and clear: the tanned head deep and staying for a long time. Mild coffee nose, more prominent in the taste, some chocolate notes in the flavour giving the maltiness an almost semi-sweet nature. I liked it, an old style London Porter, or at least as I imagine they might have been brewed.

Bottle. Morrisons. Clear, ruby red. Thin, messy, sticky, pale tan head. Bit of a praline thing going off. Light coffee. Some blackcurrant. Very appealing. Taste is nutty dry. Light, burnt bitter. Palate is a tad thin. Finishes nutty, light woody bitter. Very decent, tasty stuff.

Bottle from Tesco and drunk at home. Clear pale gold lasting white head. It’s got a bit of not great malt. Little bit of lemon, not much bitterness. It’s fizzy. Not the worst beer in the world. But distinctly average
