Grapefruit nose, white pepper. Cloudy amer, thin head. Lilly, grapefruit. Medium body, easy carbonation.
Sweet honey pappy vibes all over, deliciously smooth and warming.

Black with a brown head - Dark malt aroma with some spicy notes - Dark malt body with spicy flavours - Dark malt and spice goes into the finish - This was good

Aroma has notes of campfire, black peppercorns, grain, amazingness. Taste isn’t quite as impressive. It has all the great attributes of a good Rauchbier, but there’s a slight Band-Aid-ish off-note that definitely spoils the party. I was able to get used to it after awhile, and I still think it’s a good beer, but it’s unfortunate. It has a moderate hoppy bitterness backed by restrained bready malt sweetness.

16oz can from Tavour. Near black pour, half finger of foamy beige head. Roasty aroma, bitter, burnt toast. Taste is mostly roasty, light sweetness and notes of dark chocolate. Smooth mouthfeel with a trace of lingering bitterness.

8 ounce at the Aurora Arts location - black pour, looks still - slick mouthfeel, basically no carbonation - approach is very sweet, with treacly notes mixing with the cinnamon - some tamarind and date through the middle - gets oaky and tannic late, with some whiskey and alcohol warmth - dried cherries and some port wine notes late, with slightly less sweetness than the approach - it’s nice.

Can from Tavour. Pours clear mahogany with a small creamy tan head. Aroma has fairly strong mixed spice. Clove and nutmeg stand out. Med body. Not dry, but not sticky. Lots of spice stands in place of hop to hold down the somewhat roasty malt. Clove, nutmeg and cinnamon stand out, but ginger pops up towards the finish. Very nice.

8 ounce at the Aurora Arts location - viscous black - headless - smells like maple syrup and woodsmoke; like being in the forest in autumn - slick mouthfeel - sweet, but not cloying - heavy on maple and hazelnut, with some underlying smoke, umami, coffee - finish is a mix of maple sweetness and umami - another solid offering.

10 ounce at the Aurora Arts location - clear gold with a thick lace - bone dry and moderately funky - light acetobacter and moderate tart lacto - note of pear, barnyard, white wine - spruce tip character arrives late and adds and interesting spiciness - dry, oaky finish - I like.

16 ounce can from Tavour. Barely translucent dark brown color. Frothy tan head. Subtle roasty malt aroma. Flavor is bittersweet chocolate, roasted malt, coffee and dark caramel. Immensely drinkable.
