Cask at the Nags Head, Reading. A slightly hazy amber pour with a thin white head; aroma of lime zest; tropical fruit taste, smooth and syrupy without being sweet; then a clean grapefruit finish. The best version so far.

Bottle at home, from Waitrose Tourist Town, 13/05/16. Hazed orange amber with a decent egg shell white head. Nose is caramel, orange peel, cantaloupe melon, faint mango, toasted bread. Taste comprises orange sherbets, straw, light caramel, toasted malt, hint of papaya. Medium bodied, fine carbonation, semi drying close with moderate hop bitterness. Decent enough but no ’wow’ factor IPA.

Cask at the Nags Head, Reading. A slightly hazy amber pour with a loose cream head; grapefruit aroma; syrupy in the mouth with a big resinous hoppy taste and an orange marmalade body; then some dry lingering grapefruit to finish. Pretty good.

Bottle @ Hart & Spool, Borehamwood. Amber-orange with next to no head. Has a very stated pale ale character with plenty of fruitiness in its taste, but even more in its aroma. Fairly strong tasting but frighteningly easy to sip.

Bottle from Waitrose and drunk at home. Clear amber colour lasting cream coloured head. Big west coast ipa style hop aroma, big pink grapefruit and some pine resin. Some toffee. Good hoppy finish. Some bitterness. Rather good I thought.

Cask at the Nags Head, Reading. A hazy amber pour with a loose white head; sweet citrusy aroma; almost soupy texture with a gentle fresh orangey bitterness; and a dry finish with lingering orange. Rather filling and satisfying.

Keg at the W&E brewery tap room, 30/04/16. Golden amber with a lasting egg shell white head. Nose is coffee grinds, caramel malt, toffee, syrup and figs. Taste comprises caramel goo, sweet malt, candyfloss, light roast, espresso notes, dolce leche. Medium bodied, fine carbonation, good balance of sweetness and roast in the close. Solid white stout.... fulfils the caramel and coffee very well. I couldn’t drink too much of this one as it is a little on the sweet side but well executed.

Cask at The Claret, Croydon. It pours clear rich amber with a small off-white head. The aroma is soft, bitter - sweet, lemon sherbet, grapefruit, lime, oily pine and resin. The taste is bitter, piney, resinous, grapefruit rind, zesty action, salted lemons, peppery spice, leather with a lingering bitter - dry finish. Medium body, fine carbonation and oily mouth - feel. Pretty flavoursome actually. Decent gear.

Cask at the Fox & Hounds, Caversham. A brilliant reddish copper pour with a tight cream head; vanilla aroma; sweet vanilla and caramel taste to start, then some dry espresso coffee undertones; and a dry finish that doesn’t really carry through. A slight disappointment.
