Chris O, August 2007. Black with a light brown, big and lasting head. Roast aroma with notes of licorice. Roast and dry flavour, with a nice burned aftertaste. Tasted again Nov. 24 at thewolf. Upped the numbers a little, much the same notes, with an addition of a hint of smoke in the aroma.

Bottled (Thanks Degarth!). Black colour, big brown head. Aroma is roasted malts, dark chocolate, roasted coffee beans with some hints of burnt wood and vanilla. Flavour is roasted malts, chocolate, coffee, some slight hints of vanilla and hops. Alcohol shows a little bit in the finish.

Bottle @ Chris_o shindig 2007. Dark black color with a huge, rocky, excellent lacing, fully lasting, brown head. Aroma is moderate to heavy malty, chocolate, coffee, rum, vanilla, roasted. Flavor is moderate to heavy sweet and moderate bitter, salty notes, and with a long duration. Body is medium, texture is oily, carbonation is soft. ;o))

Medium malty aroma. Something like caramel. Ruby toned, dark brown color with a beige head that was respectable. Thin to medium bodied. Near creamy carbonation. Something of plum pit and brown sugar. A bit tangy. Nearly astringent finish. Not a great deal of hop. A suggestion of that sour note found in most Siletz presentations. Mouth tends to pucker a bit. Pretty drinkable.

Undated bomber. Pours like a thick liquid. Aroma of smoke, roasted malt, yeast, coffee and chocolate. At least. Wholly opaque brown/black color with a tan head that sticks around. Thin to medium mouthfeel; so much for illusion. Moderate carbonation. Really toasted/burnt malts like the Guinness of old. Coffee; dark fruits; not getting chocolate. There is some malt sugar, but it is more dry than otherwise. Strong, near espresso, impression for the finish. Really whacks the mouth. Then a slight toffee sweetness came forth. Very slight. This is relatively humongous in terms of aroma and flavor. If it were an imperial stout, the overall combination might be fatal.

Bottle. Brown with bubbly white head. Strong malty aroma. Fruity with strong malt and some peatiness in the finish. I liked this, but probably wouldn’t drink more than one at a time.

Bottle. Poured cloudy with thin fast disappearing head. Faint grainy aroma. Thin taste, malt and orange. Lingering citrus finish. A very commonplace beer. Not bad, but not good either.

Splendid aroma of alcolhol, fruit, floral hop, and malt. The overall effect is of fermenting fruit. Beautiful orange tinged amber color. White head that didn’t last. Medium body, very light carbonation. A bit chewy. The alcohol is definitely present, some toffee, stone fruit (something like brandied fruit with the alcohol) sweetness. The main and saving feature is that each sip provides a burst of fruit. The finish is fairly dry, and there does seem to be some of that advertised smokey undertone. There is even enough bitter to overcome the residual sweetness.

Bottle. Malty aroma faint. Poured darker than the average pale with fruity and flowery flavour.. I didn’t note any nuttiness. Mild hoppy finish.
