Bottle. Clear golden body with a thin white head. Aroma of grass and peppery earth. Flavour follows suit. Thin body with a watery texture. Soft fizz. Clean and simple, quite Lager-like.

330ml bottle from Appellation Wines, Dalry Road. Tanned from the bottle due to having packed all the glasses away. Assume it’s dark. Chocolate and pine on the aroma and taste. Some marmalade. Light roast. Hoppy stout. Good.

Bottle from Appellation Wines. Appearance - opaque black with a lovely fawn head. Nose - mostly stouty. Creamy chocolate. Some light pine though even if the citrus seems to be missing in action. Taste - mostly chocolate again and it’s very creamy. There is some citrus in the form of marmalade. Some lime pith sneaks in at the finish. Palate - close to medium bodied with a creamy texture and a long elegant creamy finish. Overall - definitely on the stout side of black ipa. But it’s good.

Bottle from Appellation Wines. Appearance - deep amber to brown with a decent head. Nose - pine, earth and resin. Red fruits then brambles gradually emerge. Taste - more spicy earth notes. Then the bramble comes through at the back again. Palate - light to medium bodied with a creamy texture and a long dry finish. Overall - not as citrusy as most ipa examples but that’s probably not what they are going for.
