Bottle from Appellation Wines. Appearance - golden with a generous head and a slight haze. Nose - quite yeasty with some apple skin. Has elements of Biere de Garde in there. Taste - fresh lemon and barley notes. Some yeasty spice at the back. Palate - light bodied with a creamy texture and a long dry finish. Good balance. Overall - quite a lot of yeast going on there, but it’s a tasty beer. Scottish hops. Who would’ve thought?!

Light haze on this gold - amber beer, tidy pale cream colour head. Palate is light, semi dry and has reasonable carbonation. Smooth light pale malts. A little dry hop dust and citric pith. Mild Sorachi like tang that must be the Summit. A little orangey hop. Mildly bitter finish also shows some citric peel.Easy going.

500ml bottle from Scottish Real Ale Shop, Kilmahog. Pours deep hazed brown with a medium tan head. Aroma is soft caramel malts. Taste continues with some darker leafier woody moments nestled amongst some comforting smoke and soft treacle. Enjoyable scotch ale.

Cask @ The Lade Inn, Kilmahog. Pours dark, small tan head. Nose is roasty, but body is rather thin and perhaps watery, some coffee and ash. Condition not particularly great with some tired off-flavours. Couldn’t finish the half. Need to re-rate.

On tap at the brewpub, pours a hazy gold with some creamy white head. Nose is OK, there’s an attempt at some late boil hopping with lemon and light pine, but mostly the golden ale shines through, yeast and flowers. Flavor has honey, mild biscuit, lemon, light straw, light grass. Finishes dry. Not aggressive enough to be a pale ale.

Sampled at the brewpub, pours a clear gold with some creamy, white head. Nose is what you expect, fruit, yeast, honey, grist. Nothing stands out. Flavor improves a touch, more flowers and chrysanthemum clear, some honey, some dough, some biscuit. Dry finish.
