Draught @ BBB. Pours murky pitch black with a small creamy mocha head that slowly dissipates while leaving a small trace on the glass. Small is malty with roasted malts, burnt caramel, dark roast coffee, dark chocolate, brown sugar, chocolate cake and hints of vanilla and alcohol. Taste is sweet, bitter and malty with roasted malts, caramel, dark chocolate, dark roast coffee, molasses, moist soil, sweet liquorice candy, chocolate cake and hints of alcohol. Mouthfeel is fat, creamy, round, tiny roasted astringent and near full bodied. Finish is slightly sweet, slightly bitter and malty with roasted malts, caramel, dark chocolate, dark roast coffee, chocolate cake, molasses, sweet liquorice candy and hints of alcohol. Thick chocolate syrup spiked espresso coffee. Decadent and very true to the beer and cake it was inspired by. Actually reminds me of the mudcakes I’ve made spiked with different imperial stouts... Cool beer...

Draught @ BBB. Pours murky deep golden with a creamy offwhite head that slowly dissipates while leaving some sticky lacing on the glass. Smell is malty and slightly fruity with dark bread, grapefruit juice, freshly cut grass, pine needles, orange peal, lemon zest and hints of butter taste is tiny sweet, bitter, malty and tiny fruity with dark bread, biscuits, unfermented wort, grapefruit juice, freshly cut grass, pine needles, frozen green peas, moist soil, minerals, butter, orange peal and lemon zest. Mouthfeel is soft, flat, round, astringent and medium bodied. Finish is bitter with bread, unfermented wort, grapefruit, grass, pine, frozen green peas, laundry detergent, minerals, butter, orange peal and lemon zest. Lots of off-flavours and all in all a pretty nasty experience. I’m not worried though. I know Timo knows what’s doing and this small batch probably went wrong. Looking forward to revisit.

Draught @ BBB. Pours murky reddish brown with a very small beige head that doesn’t leave much trace on the glass while dissipating. Smell is smokey and phenolic with rye bread, smoked meat, pears, moist hay and soil. Taste is tiny sweet, tiny bitter, slightly sour, slightly malty, estery and phenolic with rye bread, cereal, caramel, pears, smoke, moist hay and soil. Mouthfeel is soft, slightly flat, round, slightly tart and medium bodied. Finish is tiny sweet, tiny bitter and slightly tart with ryeb bread, cereal, moist hay, unripe pears, smoke and lemon zest. First proper-ish Sahti experience. Very estery... Works but it’s not love at first sight.
