Bottle @ home. Clear, burnt orange appearance with a white head. Slightly citrusy, toasty, light caramel, mild earthy, citrus hoppy aroma. Clean, slightly today, light caramel malty, tame citrusy, earthy hoppy, almost German-like flavor. Solid beer.

Bottle. Has an amber-tan colour. The aroma is full of brett, with a little bit of pedio and wheat influence. A fair bit of cheese on the palate but quite tart and bretty, lactic and subtle fruitiness. Actually pretty good, bracing tart finish. Like a clean(ish) lambic.

Bottle thanks to wavers. Pours a hazy amber orange with no head whatsoever. Aroma has lots of sour fruits and red wine notes wit a bit of acid and a hint of sweet fruit. Flavor has Intense sour fruit with growing acid and a bit of cutting sweetness. Not much funk.

Bottle thanks to Henry. Pours with no head over a clear golden body. Aromas of marzipan, craisins, nutty, oak, peanuts and light vinegar. Flavors are lactic acid, sour, tart and pretty dry. Some stone fruit. Not quite as acetic as the others in this series. Hardly any carbonation on the mouth, but puckering and dry.

Small batch series. Cloudy with particulate matter. Nice head. The aroma is big sage, with light but indistinct hoppiness. Massive sage on the palate and medium bitterness underneath along with some caramelly malts. It’s not really balanced, but I think it works because the sage goes well with the hops and because I happen to like sage.

Small batch series. Dark brown but with no head. The aroma is intensely herbal, almost tomatoey. Kind of strange. The body is thin, too thin. White pepper intermingles, somewhat incongruously, with vague chocolate malts and some abstract fruitiness.

5.6/10 Appearance 6 Aroma 7 Flavor 5 Texture 4 Overall 5.5
Small batch series. Dark brown. Assertive chocolate aroma has a lot of fresh maltiness and a hint of the black pepper. Thin body has assertive black pepper character, however. It is not well-balanced and the pepper really lingers too long. As with the white pepper porter, it needs more sugars to really balance out the spice.

Dark brown. The aroma has fairly fresh grainy character with lots of chocolate in particular. Assertive chocolate character, sweet and fresh maltiness. Slight softness to the body enhances drinkability.
