12oz bottle. Attractive cherry-brown, thick and murky, with a respectable beige head. The aroma is crisp, with a pronounced chocolate tinged nuttiness. Medium bodied, some caramel toffee tones. Clean and well executed, captures the style. Some mild berry tones in the malt. Mild soapy hops. Straightforward, inoffensive, OK.

12oz bottle. Opaque black with a thin, oily, beige head. Roasted chocolate aroma. Well balanced, rich malty tones, with a mild soapy bitterness. A really well executed beer, everything you could want in an American Porter. At times almost nutty, meaty, smoky, some light berry tones as well. Remains quite drinkable despite the relatively big ABV. Nails the style.

Bottle thanks to bu11zeye. Pours with a still body. Copper, hazy and flat. Aroma has a large amount of vanilla, wine, acetic and fruit notes. Flavors are fruity and tons of acetic, wine, and throat rape (burn). Floral and fruity. Still and dry. Carbonation would be nice. Highly acetic (as are some of their other wilds).

Bottle thanks to bu11zeye. Pours with a hazed brown body with a tan head that slowly fades. Aroma of bourbon, fusel, ethanol, toasted coconut, alcohol, pine and peppery. Flavors of raisins, brown sugar, alcohol, bourbon, very dry, splinters. Some carbonation. Thick and tasty. Tannic, fresh, spicy oak. Shockingly good!

Bomber courtesy of Bman113VR. I’ve had this since November 09, so its got some age on it. Pours a hazy dark beer with a thin offwhite head. Decent head retention and lacing. Aroma of rich toffee notes, brown sugar, berries, some hops and a faint bit of oxidation. The taste is toffee, berries, hops, citrus, a nougaty note, raisins, some toastiness, faint bits of oxidation. Medium bodied. Nice beer.

bottle at home(19Jan11)pours black with a light tan head. Aroma is roasted malt and thin coffee. Flavor is rich roast, burnt sugars and coffee. Finishes mildly sweet with lingering dark malts and cocoa.

Let me first say that I love the minimalist designs on Santa Fe’s new canned products - dark ruby, nearly black pour - frothy tan head - intense aroma of oily, freshly roasted coffee beans - smells of a dark roast - additional aromas are kind of washed out by this, but I don’t mind - creamy mouthfeel - medium-full body - the coffee presents in full force first (the flavor, but not the bitterness just yet), along with some moderate sweetness - dries out moderately through the middle, as some hop bitterness comes together well with the now present bitterness of the coffee - just a touch of acidity extracted from the coffee - a bit of black malt - espresso finish - a touch of alcohol warmth - just enough - very balanced - I’ve been impressed with what Santa Fe has been putting out lately - undoubtedly, some later raters will make comments along the lines of "this isn’t a real imperial because it isn’t chewy and viscous and it isn’t boozy and sweet and it doesn’t burn my trachea when I drink it" - but we don’t need to listen to those people - a quality imperial coffee stout...in cans...for 8 bucks a six pack - did you read that craft beer brewers of the world? - learn from this.

Very light copper - clear body - soapy, lasting head - a bit of sweet pale malt hits the nose first, but some spicy, zesty hops ride in on that and dominate most of the nose, with a bit of toasted grain on the tail end - flavor and body have a decent heft to them, but the beer is still clean and easy-drinking - some lean pale malts, mostly, but again a hint of toasted grain - hops are bright, peppery - just enough sweetness to temper them - medium dry finish, with lingering bitterness - balanced and tasty.

Deep mahogany body under a thin off-white head. Complex aroma of dried fruits and raisins, dark caramel, and just a touch of bitter orange citrus hops. Brown sugar and raisin flavors come smoothly in this full bodied brew. It’s 17 degrees here with a 2 degree wind chill and this is just the ticket ti sip on by the fire to warm from within! As good as I’ve had in a while.

12oz bottle. Murky orange-brown. Thin, lacy head. Mild, mellow aroma. A pretty solid APA, medium bodied and very sessionable. The lack of filtration really works with this one, as the yeast gives it smooth mouthfeel. Subdued and balanced, everything about this beer is mild. Pretty decent stuff.
