Fresh can from Belfast Co-op, drunk some time late Spring 2016 (forgot to rate it at the time).
Lightly hazy, golden-brass body shows a medium-sized white head with moderate retention.
Grapefruit, cherry, mango and strong pineapple in the nose, fruity and fairly juicy, but also with a resinous edge to it creating just a touch too much sour pineapple and strong white grapefruit. Sweet honey and biscuit maltiness is notable behind it and helps balance things at least somewhat. Light spiciness, a touch of alcohol and more grapefruit/pineapple/mango lingering.
Medium carbonation and a moderately malty texture, though there is some graininess which, in concert with the resin/grapefruit/sour pineapple creates a bit too much fatiguing dryness (and bitterness). Being that it’s experimental, I don’t expect a polished gem, but this still seems like they went way overboard on the bittering hop/alpha acid component.

Draught at the brewery, 7/4/16.
Mostly clear, light golden-honey body is topped by a small but fairly dense white head showing moderate retention.
Delicate honey, soft, floral hops and light Belgian esters emerge in the nose as the basil hangs quietly (but noticeably) in the background. They’ve managed to keep it fresh, light and not overdone in the basil department. No earthy, astringent, stewed herb character, but rather comes off as almost a fresh dry-hop-like character. Pretty impressed by the restraint and the light vanilla-apple-strawberry saison elements show forth nicely, as well. Light earthiness and more floral hops with a touch of biscuit and various grain.
Soft, lightly sweet honey-like malts emerge with a tight carbonation, softly-malted texture and good attenuation. Floral hops blend seamlessly with the fresh, crisp, bright basil notes which are done with wonderful restraint. Not intensely saison-like, but still has some earthiness, moderate esters and a drinkable nature. Overall comes off more like a mildly Belgian golden ale with basil. Still, can’t deny how refreshing and flavorful it is, whatever you want to label it.

Draught at the brewery, 7/4/16.
Medium-amber body shows a good clarity, light auburn tints and a beige head atop that is medium-sized and well-retained.
Not too smokey from the nose, more phenolic than rich, meaty smokiness with buttercream and toasted malt character quite prominent. The phenolic dryness of the smoke plays well against the maltiness but there might be a bit of a surplus of bready, toasty character. No alcohol or flaw and quite fruity (cherry, strawberry, apple esters) on the end.
Nicely attenuated, with soft, sticky malts and a good deal of creaminess from the tight carbonation. Smoke is moderate in its intensity and quite dry, with more campfire and pepper-like qualities. Again, as from the nose, maybe a bit too toasty for my tastes, adding a strong sourdough element in concert with the buttercream-like notes produced by the base malt interaction with the smoke and specialty malt. Clean, no alcohol, no flaw, and well-done, otherwise.

Keg at Blackback - Waterbury. Pours unclear honey gold with a frothy, white head. Mellow spicy pine in the nose, pale bread, tangerine rind. Medium sweet flavour with further piney notes, peach, hay. Medium bodied with average carbonation. Finishes a little dry, with some biscuity pale malts, rindy citrus, mild pine. Not bad.

At a lasting, thanks, smallish creamy head, quite hazy yellow color, guava aroma with hints of pomelo spice and shrubs, flavor of shrubs, yeast and a light breadiness, light to medium bitterness, a hint of sweetness. Really nice.

Can sample at a tasting at Max’s place. Thanks Tom L. Yellow with a white head. Hoppy aroma, tropical fruity (guava, carambola) and "green", with a bit of phenolic spiciness, earth. Flavor is quite dry, with faint sweetness, grains, earth, "green" and fruity hops, and mild bitterness. Quite light-bodied. Nice and refreshing.
