Description
Hanssens Artisanaal is the oldest independent geuze blender in the whole world. At Hanssens, no beer is actually brewed! Instead, they pursue a profession that was very important in the history of lambic style beers, they are solely blenders of beer.

Hanssens takes this a step further, and actually blends batches from different breweries in their area. This used to be a very common practice, but Hanssens is now the oldest remaining blender. They bring to this endeavor a variety of barrels, some up to one hundred years old, and a passion and a love for the tradition of Geuze and Lambics.

Zero carbonation (really nothing) but besides that very nice sour/raspberry taste

37.5cl bottle picked up at Rotsaert beer warehouse in Zedelgem, Belgium a few years back. A golden/amber coloured pour with a small white head which doesn't linger. Yeasty, fruity, tart, lemon, apple aroma and taste. Really pleasant sourness in this one and it is very drinkable indeed. Never been a huge fan of anything tart and sour but this one is really nice and refreshing and would be great on a hot sunny day.

Frothy white head left a spotty cover on an unclear, slowly carbonating dark gold body. Sour aroma with apple. Medium bodied, sharp on the tongue with a short dry back. Sour apple, chalk, yeast & floral tastes. Cleanses the palate!

16 February 2020. At In de Verzekering tegen de Grote Dorst. Cheers to Anke & Pieter! Pours clear red with a very thin, pinkish head. Aroma of blackcurrant, blueberry juice, lemon peel, sour cherry, plum. Taste has sour cassis, cherry & redcurrant, some lemon acid, a bit wheaty, sweetish jam-like undercurrent. Tart, fruity & slightly funky finish, low hoppiness, more cassis until the very end. Medium body, oily texture, soft carbonation. Rather straightforward but intense.

37.5cl bottle. Intense sour fruity nose. The beer starts very sour with lots of fruity vinegar. Lots of berries with sour cherries on top - very sour cherries. Fruity sour in the end, nice mix of cherries and berries, high acidity in the end. Nice sour.
