Hanssens Artisanaal
Microbrewery
in Dworp,
Flemish Brabant,
Belgium 🇧🇪
Associated Venue: Hanssens Artisanaal
Established in 1871
Hanssens takes this a step further, and actually blends batches from different breweries in their area. This used to be a very common practice, but Hanssens is now the oldest remaining blender. They bring to this endeavor a variety of barrels, some up to one hundred years old, and a passion and a love for the tradition of Geuze and Lambics.

Pours unclear amberblonde. Fairly big, dense and noticably stable white head. Scent is bit acetic, but not over the top. Grassy. Taste is sharp, intensely tart, fairly high acetic acid . Dry finish. Bit woody. Strong citric (lemony) presence underneath the acetic.

Clear pale to medium amber colour, good frothy white head, slowly diminishing, leaving some yeast circles, light lacing. Aroma sour, fruity, green apples, vinegar, horse blanket, brett, woody notes. Bottle, 6%. Great aroma, acetic and complex with a powerful blackcurrant aroma. Seemingly clear deep red colour. Very small whitish head. The flavour is very acidic, but there is a lot of fruit in it. Not dry as such, but more acid than sweetness. Good acetic notes, lots of blackcurrant. Acetone finish. Bites my throat a bit. Very low carbonation. Very good.

Bottle. Pours slightly hazy dark ruby with airy light pinkish head. Clear aroma of lambic yeast and fruit, with mild malty touches. Dry, vinous flavour with notes of currants and dusty and estery touches and malty hints. Dry aftertaste with estery and dusty notes. Low carbonation, but that is not a problem here. A nice one.

hazy golden to orange colour, moderate sized off-white head, which disappears quite quickly leaving back an ivory layer; aroma of lemon juice, acetic acidy, acetone and some earthy notes; taste is the same with some salty notes; great gueuze!
